Hiccup's Pov:

I left toothless in the cove with a promise to be back tomorrow with some fish, by the time I got back to the village it was nearing dusk, about 30 minutes before the great hall opened for dinner, I walked around town, looking for Gobber, I wanted to ask him if I could have the day off tomorrow. I found him by the kill ring, obviously setting up for tomorrow, as dragon training started tomorrow,

"Hey, Gobber!" I waved to him, he looked up at me and smiled,

"How are you doing lad?" He asks as he hobbles out of the ring to meet me,

"Good, had a great afternoon!" I tell him as we walk towards the great hall,

"You can have the day off tomorrow, but you have to run the forge while dragon training is happening," he tells me, I give him a glance, whatever I didn't even need to ask for the day off now, "Can't run the forge on the first day of training," Gobber muttered to himself, not aware that I could still hear him. I give my goodbyes to Gobber as I went to go get a plate of food, 'Hmm, yak cooked with garlic butter and cheese, cooked rare with buttered toasted bread, one of my favorites' I hum happily as I place the food on my plate and grab a cup of water, and walked to the far corner table that had a torch right above it, also my favorite spot in the great hall as it's away from everyone and my dad. I set my plate and cup down as I sat down myself, I also liked this corner because of how quieter it was from the rest of the hall.

*An hour later*

I set my cup and plate with the rest and left the hall of drunk Vikings to my house on the top of the hill, When I opened the front door, I could see my dad poking at the fire, I roll my eyes of course he didn't hear me open the door, he'll notice me when I'm halfway up the stairs like always, I walked in, not caring if the floor creaked slightly

"Hiccup," my dad finally says, I stop my track up the stairs and sit on the one that I'm standing on,

"Yes, Dad?" I ask him as I stare down at him,

"I'm going on another vogue, I'll be back soon, maybe," my dad says as he grabs his bag and leaves, I don't say anything, I just watch him leave, 'He didn't even bother looking at me, some dad he is,' I roll my eyes again and continue my way to my room before I got interrupted by my so-called "Dad" I reach my room, I set my vest on my desk with my notebook that had drawings of Toothless, I smiled at the thought of my best friend, 'I have barely known you a day and you're already my best friend,' I smile and set the rest of the stuff in my vest on my desk, I no longer had my dagger because when I pulled it out a second-time Toothless promptly hit it with his tail and it's now at the bottom of the lake, I'll make a new one, I sit on my bed and take off my boots before getting comfortable on my wooden bed, I blow out the candle that sat on my nightstand.
