NERV HQ was bustling they had finally succeeded in locating shinji ikari, their wayward pilot, and the savior of the human race, for that is how everyone saw him, he had saved mankind from a group of fools who believed they could become gods
good news they had found shinji, bad news, bringing him home may be a bit more difficult, they had learned that shinji was no longer human, something that most of them had guessed already, but what surprised them was he wasn't an angel either, what he was instead was sheer irony
"shinji ikari, now goes by the name adriel marchosias, his first name in theme with that of the angels, however the marchosias family which he is restoring is a high-ranking family in the society shinji is a part of, and these devils are incredibly powerful, shinji himself being no exception in fact by what we have learned the abilities he inherited, from EVA unit-01, have been augmented by his new devil heritage, this means that forcing his return is nothing short of a fools errand" kozo fuyutsuki, the current commander of NERV
"what would you recommend commander" the current leader of the UN asked
"i recommend that if he says no, we listen and respect his choice, and leave him alone" kozo said
"very well, we will ask him first however" the leader said
"i am intending to send major misato katsuragi, and rei ayanami to meet him, they have the best relationship with him of anyone on this world, rei more so then the major" kozo said
"what about the other pilot, langley i believe her name was" a general asked
"that would be nothing short of folly on our part, she has not treated, Mr. ikari, at all with any dignity whatsoever, i would only ever send her on this mission if she expressly volunteered, and that would be only after giving her express warning that he may kill her, that is how badly our best pilot was treated, by his teammate, now miss ayanami has on occasion expressed some concern for Mr. ikari, we are hoping he noticed her care for him, or at least knows that it was because of her actions that gave him control of instrumentality, and is grateful to her"
"he may also know instrumentality may not have even started without her there" the general said
"a risk, but as i said of all of the individuals in this world, miss ayanami has the best chances of bringing Mr. ikari home, and maybe bringing this new civilization of devils with him" kozo said, they nodded, the devils would force humanity into evolving at a much safer rate then instrumentality
"very well, keep us posted commander" the leader said as he cut the channel, and kozo sighed
"why is it so hard, to make one boy happy" kozo asked himself as he looked out the window of his office, sighing once more
misato had readied herself, for the transfer of worlds, they were using the recently repaired EVA unit-00 as the catalyst for the gateway, the UN refused to have any other EVAs built or repaired until a contingency was in place to deal with any fallout, their chosen contingency was another EVA more specifically, that of EVA unit-01, the savior of their world
she sat behind rei in unit-00's entry plug
"we are ready to begin the operation" rei said
"affirmative unit-00, remember your orders, and good luck, initiating gateway opening" the commander said before the two in the entry plug were met by a blinding light
When there vision cleared they realized they were no longer inside the EVA
"I still sense unit-00 but it cannot take physical form in this world it is odd" rei said
"Can it direct us to shinji through you" misato asked
"Not to pilot ikari, but to unit-01 we fan only hope that pilot ikari is close to unit-01" rei said
"Are we close" misato asked
"Very, it's pull is strong" rei said
"Lead on, i wondef if he remembers that promise i made him during the final battle" misato said, the second part mostly to herself in morbid curiosity, by this point her moral compass had been shattered and sleeping with the now seventeen year old didn't sound so bad, at least he would treat her better then kaji who abandoned her............. again
Rei raised an eyebrow at what misato said, as she didn't know what promise misato spoke of
The walked for ruffly three hours before a massive castle came into visual
"I didn't know these devils were a fan of Japanese architecture" misato said
"They aren't this castle was built specifically for pilot ikari, in order to allow him to better acclimate to their society, most castles are more like giant mansions, built in the western areas of the world" rei said
"Huh, good to know these people must love shinji" misato said
"Pilot ikari's actions had in essence dealt a crippling blow to what is known as the old satan faction, and it gave the devils much more capable individuals they can reincarnate to help saving their dying race, there only two hundred pure-blood devils, and only six hundred half-bloods, the majority of their population are reincarnated devils most of which serve in peerages, pilot ikari, is like to have a peerage of his own, as the head of house marchosias" rei said, she was crucial in finding shinji and in learning about the world he was now apart of she had made several trips to this world on her own to learn as much as she could about it
"Pilot ikari is in fact famous in this world for creating the advanced peerage pieces, and the elixir whuch is an extremely powerful healing serium the most powerful in fact, how he has done so remains a mystery, but it is NERVs belief that he has been using his angelic abilities to do create these items, further proving the theory that pilot ikari became an angel to save us all" rei said
"Wow" misato said
"That is the main reason we are searching so heavily for pilot ikari, while unlikely, it was possible his angelic side had taken over which would mean the extinction of all mankind, should he still be sane as most believe he is, he would be welcomed home with the greatest of honors" rei said
As the walked towards the entrance of the castle
"Halt, who goes there" the guard at tge right of the gate demanded both of them held the false longinus misatk had seen the MP EVAs using
"I am colonel misato katsuragi, we had hoped to meet the lord of this castle about someone we hoped we could find here" misato said, both the guards went from serious to bored in almost an instant
"Took ya long enough, the lord been expecting you for some years, look for a mature looking woman with white hair, by the name of winter, she will take you to him" the guard said as he opened the gate and gestured the two girls inside before the gate closed behind them
