The Second Wave

Chapter 7- The Start

~Flashback 1 Start~

I was crying in my crib as my parents had been eaten by zombies. The zombies came towards me…

A few gunshots were heard and the zombies went down. I kept crying.

“Hey! There’s a baby in here!” A male voice said.

“Quick! Bring them over!” A female voice said.

“Search the place for anything for this kid,” the first voice commanded.

I got picked up and got rocked, I stopped crying.

“Sir! I found a birth certificate!” The female from earlier said.

“What does the name say, Kat?” The male voice asked.

“Sir! It says ‘Taylor Maire Walker’!” The female, Kat, says.

“Birthdate and today's date?” The male voice asked.

“‘April 15th, 2010’, it’s currently August 25th, 2010. General sir!” Kat said.

“Poor girl… Keep that and find other baby supplies,” the General said.

“Sir! Yes, sir!” Kat said and left.

A little later, the general called for a line up. “Any baby supplies?” He asked.

”I found baby bottles and baby formula, sir!” Kat said.

“I found a lot of diapers, sir!” A male voice said.

“I found baby clothes, sir!” Another female voice said.

“All different sizes?” The General asked.
“Yes, sir!” The female said.

I started getting fussy.
“Sir! I found some teething rings, pacifiers and baby toys,” another male voice said.

“Give her a pacifier,” the General said.

I then got a pacifier in my mouth, and I calmed down.

“Let’s bring her back to base,” the General said as I fell asleep.

~Flashback 1 End~

~Flashback 2 Start~

I was five and running through the field near the military base. I wasn’t too far away from base before I turned around and screamed. There was a zombie there! I backed up and kept screaming as it grabbed me. I screamed the loudest when it bit me. I punched it in the head with my free hand.

“She’s over here! Quick!” I heard the General say.

The zombie went down. I started crying.

“What’s wrong?” The General asked.

“I’m gonna die because I got bit!” I sobbed.

“You won’t, hurry along now,” the General said.

He brought me to the lab and the doctors injected me with something. “Ow!” I whined then I blacked out.

I woke up to hear the General saying, “We have to throw her out, it’s too risky,”

Next thing I knew, I was being thrown out as I was begging to stay. They left me in the forest all alone… I ran the other way, when I bumped into something or someone…

The man raised his gun at me.

“Please, no!” I cried.

The man and the woman looked at each other as the man lowered his gun.

“Sorry, kiddo. I’m Ryan. This is Myriad,” Ryan says.

I hugged Ryan’s leg and cried, “I don’t wanna die!”

Ryan picked me up, “Shh… You’re safe now, it’s okay,” he said soothingly.

I clinged onto him, “I wanna stay with you… Please?” I asked sweetly.

Ryan looks at Myriad who nods. “Alright,” he smiled.

Both of them took me to my new home.

~Flashback 2 End~

“Taylor…?” Ryan asks, sounding scared. That’s when I realized the blood everywhere, especially myself.
