Third Person Pov:

Y/N sat in the car, with Johnnie and Jake, on the way to the party. The thumping bass filled the car, and Pierce the Veil blasted from the speakers. The song lyrics filled Y/N's mind with enticing words that gave them an excited energy. Light strums of guitar coming through, with beautiful sounds of the drums, and the unique style of the vocals. All of this combined together, making a powerful and passionate sound that fueled the trio on to their destination. The three couldn't help but sing along, as the music filled their heart, and the car rocked them along on their journey.

(Time Skip)

The trio arrived at the party where the house was filled with many people. The trio stepped inside and was transported into a world of the senses. The music was loud and festive, the laughter and conversation of the guests intermingling with the beat of the music. Everywhere they looked, people were dancing, drinking, and talking.
They smiled and waved as they found their way across the room to their destination. Finally, they arrived at their destination, two grinning faces surrounded by their circle of friends, laughing and talking as if no one else was in the same room.

Y/n's Pov:

I was walking the house party with Johnnie, feeling a little out of place as everyone seemed to know each other. I watched as they all came up to greet Johnnie and Jake, but I stayed in the background. Then, out of the corner of my eye, I saw a pretty dark-haired girl with a wide smile make her way towards us. She was Tara, and she was so bubbly and friendly that I immediately felt at ease.

"Hey, you must be, y/n! I heard so much about you! I'm Tara it's nice to meet you!" Tara yelled out before pulling me close to her. I smiled nervously before laughing in an awkward way.
"Who told you about me?" I asked as she pulled her arms away.
"Oh, Johnnie did! He was so sweet about it!" Tara smiled before pulling me down onto the couch.
I looked around the party and tried to take in all of the faces around me. I watched as people laughed and talked, but I couldn't help but feel a bit out of place. I hadn't seen anyone I knew here yet, and I was hoping that I would find someone to connect with soon. Just then, I heard Tara's voice calling my name. I turned around to see her smiling at me from across the room.

"So, do you have eyes on anyone?" She asked me. I shook my head, feeling a bit embarrassed.
"No, I mean...I just got here," I mumbled before seeing Jake dancing with many of his friends.
I couldn't stop looking over at him. He made me feel so many things.

Jake Pov:

I was so excited to see my friends after a long time of being apart. As I stepped into the room, I could hear the music playing, and I immediately knew what I had to do. Without wasting a moment, I grabbed my friends and urged them to dance with me. We had an amazing time, and I couldn't help but forget all my worries and just think about having fun.

But then, I remembered Vicky. She had asked me to dance with her earlier in the day, and I had said yeah, but she wasn't here yet, so I decided to pull y/n. What could go wrong?

Third Person Pov:
Y/N's heart raced as she watched Jake approach her. She saw his lips curl up into a smile as he stood before her, close enough for her to feel the warmth radiating off his body.

'Y/N,' he whispered into her ear, his breath warm and his voice low, 'would you like to dance?'

Y/N hesitated for a moment before nodding slowly. Jake took her hand, leading her towards the center of the room. He pulled her close as the music began, but before they danced, the room's presence changed into something  unwelcoming.
Jake looked up to see Vicky. He immediately let go of Y/n and went to greet Vicky. Y/n's smile faded away before feeling hurt and jealous.

Y/n's Pov:

I was so hurt when I watched Jake abandon me for Vicky. Not just because I like him (maybe), but because I was replaced and judged to be less worthy than Vicky. Vicky was everything I wasn't in Jake's eyes – popular, confident, and secure. While I was a meek and shy introvert, I couldn't compete. She was so sure of her worth that Jake could see it a mile off.

I felt like I was in that moment, tumbling down a never-ending hole of sadness and self-doubt. I questioned what I could have done differently, what I lacked or did wrong.
She was so pretty. She had the body, the sass, the confidence, and...the boy.
"Hmm, Jake, did you miss me? I told you we would dance tonight!" Vicky laughed out loud before holding Jake by the arm.
"Who is this? I'm Vicky." She spat before raising her eyebrow as she analyzed my looks.
"I'm y/n. It's nice to meet you..." I drifted off before feeling my heart break slightly.
"Um, not to sound rude, but can you...get going. It's my turn." Vicky snarls before pulling Jake away. I felt sick to my stomach and walked away, avoiding everybody.

Third Person Pov:

Jake watched as Y/n walked away from the crowd and couldn't help but feel bad about how Vicky had talked to her. Vicky was always so sassy and rude, and it left a sour taste in Jake's mouth.

Despite his inner turmoil, he made no effort to call out to Y/n, feeling as though it would only make things worse. He stayed in the crowd, trying to take his mind off the situation.

Before he knew it, he felt a hand on his shoulder and heard a comforting voice. ''Don't worry about her, Jake. Focus on me.''

"Y/n..." he mumbled to himself.

It was fucking Vicky, who had taken notice of his distress and had come to "comfort" him.

Jake's Pov:
I wonder why Vicky acted like an asshole. She never acted like that before. I feel terrible for leaving Y/n like that, but I can't have feelings for her and... especially earlier.

Johnnie's Pov:
I was minding my own business sitting on the couch as Tara talked about...something "important." I'm a nice person, so I listened. As I drifted off, I caught Y/n the corner of my eye. She seemed upset and was rushing outside.
Tara and I looked at each other before we got up to follow her.
"Y/n! Wait for us!" Tara calls out as we caught up to her.
"Did something happen? You look...upset." I said softly as I waited for Y/n.
"No, it's just been a long day, and I really need to get some rest." Y/n sighs as she looks down at the ground.
"I can order us an Uber. Jake can drive home, or Vicky can take him." I said before Tara nods along. I can tell Y/n was still upset, but I'm not going to force her to say anything. She wasn't ready yet.
