"Amara star."  the mayor from district 13 said

I looked up and my eyes widened in fear, I shook my head, I have to be strong, I ignore the stares from the people, and I began walking towards the stage,  I went up the stage, then the mayor called the next person from the males.

"terrace wells."  mayor called out. terrnce was my best friend even though he was 4 years older than me, he always protected me always got my back, he walked up get on the stage,

we both shook hands, the peacekeepers start to dragged us to the train and throws us into the small cart. terrace glared at the peacekeepers with anger and resent. I put my hand on the older boy's shoulder which made him calm down.

the peacekeepers closed the door,  I brought my knees to my chest , I hugged them, I sighed, I was trembling in fear and anger

I hated these games, watching kids kill each other, It's just not right.

I'm scared that I might die, I'm scared I won't see my family anymore

, Terrance scooted to me, and wrapped his arm around my shoulder, "don't worry, you will win this."

I looked at at the older boy "what about you? "

"only one must win, you know that, and I'm gonna make sure you win, don't worry about me." Terrance said

I shake his head "but you won't see your family again, you know that, if anyone should win it's you." I said

he chuckles slightly "oh you and your selflessness, you really do take after your mom, Amara." he joked

"I'm serious." I said sternly

Terrance sighs "look I don't want to die, but I also don't want you to die, you have to win this." he said I sigh sadly 

"hey, everything's gonna okay, trust me, you're gonna win this and you're gonna see your family." terrance said

I sigh and I nodded in understanding, the train starts moving I closed my eyes. I laid my head on Terrance's shoulder try to get's some sleep

flashback

8-year-old Amara was learning how to shoot by her two older brothers Phillip and apollo  while tthey were hunting she hold the arrow with her bow. she aimed at the deer

"and now!" Philip yelled

amara let go of the arrow and it hit the deer, her older brothers cheered and they hugged their little sister making her giggled,

"look at you! that was perfect shot, perfect shot!" apollo said

"you did good, Amara." philip said

"and someday you're gonna make a great skilled archer, like me and apollo."  he smiled at his little sister

the 8 year old smiled at that. she wanted to be like her brothers, she wanted to be a archer like her father and her older brothers

"come on, mom wants us home," apollo said carrying the deer.

Philip turned to Amara who was picking yellow flowers which had him and apollo smiling at her "Amara, let's go." he said 

the 8 year old looked up at her older brother then nodded "okay." she said, philip gently took her hand

the three of them went home.

"Amara wake up, we're here." I heared Terreance said

I opened my eyes and lifted my head off from his shoulder, terrance stood up, and I did the same, Terreance opened the door, he got off the train, he grabbed my hand helped me get off, he ruffled my hair.

"stay by me, got it? Terrance said

"got it." I nodded

looked and saw the other tributes getting off the train, here we are in capital city.  suddenly two men dragged us to the black truck, once me and Terrance were inside, we saw a dark skinned man who was about terrnece's age I'm guessing he's from disrtict 11 . there was girl who was my age I'm guessing she's his district parthner she coughed, she looked at me, I waved at her with a kind smlie she smiled back then cough again, which had me frown in sympathy

then there was a girl with short hair she looked about 16 years old I'm guessing she's from district 4, and the there was boy who's her panther, he was my age he had dark hair and brown eyes. he was kind of cute

he and I made eye contact, I simlied brightly at him, he was taken back at it, he gave me a slight smile back, we stare at each other for a whlie, 

somthing in my stomach began to flutter, it was like something warm. I flet my face began to heat up a bit, Terrance nudge me making me break away my stare at the dark haired boy, 

I looked at terrance who had an amused smirk on his face, he must've noticed what I was doing, I rolled my eyes, I gently hit his shoulder

"don't start." I said softly

he had his hands up in mock surrender still smirking, pretty soon the rest of the other tirbtues were all in the black truck.
