Chapter #63
Aug 9th 2021
Louri’s POV
“Louri, if you tell me I’ve got this one more time I will take sex away for a year!” Scarlett yells as she pushes when Dr. Montgomery tells her to. “Sorry.” I say. “I’m sorry too that shit hurts.” Scarlett says out of breath. “Ok Scarlett when the next contraction hits I need you to push hard ok.” Dr. Montgomery says. “What do you think I'm doing!?” Scarlett snaps. “I know it hurts but I need you to push harder ok.” Dr. Montgomery says. “FUCKS SAKE!!” Scarlett screams when the next contraction hits. “That’s it Scarlett one more push.” Dr. Montgomery says. “OH SWEET JESUS!!” I yelp when Scarlett grips it tight as she pushes one final time. “I should have taken my ring off.” I say looking at the indent it made on my middle finger. “You said I could squeeze your hand as hard as I needed.” Scarlett says, trying to catch her breath. “I did, didn't I?” I say. “You two don’t have the same eye color do you?” Dr. Montomery asks. “No we don;t I have blue eyes and Scarlett has green eyes why?” I say. “It would seem that little Thomas here has Heterochromia.” Dr. Montgomery says. “What does that mean? Is he ok?” Scarlett asks, starting to panic. “Honey it means he has two different colored eyes." I tell her, placing my hand on hers and she nods, taking a deep breath  “Here you go Mama.” The nurse says trying to hand me Thomas he looks rather small. “How much does he weigh?” I ask. “Six pounds and thirteen ounces.” She says. “Is he healthy? I mean he’s pretty small.” I say sitting down on the side of the bed so I can hold him without breaking my doctor's orders. “Oh yes don’t worry. He’s perfectly healthy.” She says handing him to me. “He’s beautiful. I’m Mama.” I say. “His right eye is blue and his left is green.” I say to Scarlett. “Here lay down.” She says moving over slightly, making room for me. “Hi. I’m Mommy.” Scarlett coos. “Do you want to hold him?” I ask. “Of course I do.” She says and I hand him to her. “You are so beautiful.” Scarlett says softly. “Do we have a name for the little guy?” The nurse asks. “Thomas Rush Johansson-Evans.” I tell her without taking my eyes off of Thomas. “That’s a wonderful name.” She says and writes something down. I am assuming she’s filling out his birth certificate. After about thirty minutes Ma, Melanie, and Karsten come in. “Oh he’s so cute.” Ma says. “He’s asleep so please keep it down.” Scarlett says. “Oh sorry.” Ma says softly. “He’s rather small. He’s not sick is he?” Karsten says. “I had the same concern when the nurse handed him to me but she assured me that he’s ok.” I say. “You were a small baby too Louri.” Ma says. “Really? I didn’t know that.” I say. “You never asked.” Ma says. “Can I hold him?” Melanie asks. “Sure but be careful not to wake him.” Scarlett says handing him over to her. “Oh he’s so precious.” Melanie says fawning over him. “Louri what happened to your hand?” Ma asks worriedly. “I had a strong contraction.” Scarlett says. “That must have been when we heard Louri yell.” Karsten says. “I did tell her to squeeze my hand if she needed to and she did. One of the nurses checked it and she said it’s ok, just a little bruised because of my ring. But I’m ok.” I say. “Oh you can’t tell because he’s asleep but he has heterochromia.” Scarlett says. “He has two different colored eyes?” Ma asks. “Yes. His right eye is blue and his left eye is green.” I say. “He truly is a mix of you both.” Melanie chuckles softly.

Scarlett’s POV
It’s been a few hours since Thomas was born. I guess one of the good things about him being a little late is Louri can hold him while standing for short periods of time without any pain. We are currently on our way home from the hospital and I will be happy to sleep in my own bed. “THEY’RE HERE!!” I hear Devon yell from the other side of the door making me smile. “Welcome home Tommy.” Louri says to the small baby in my arms. “Is that my baby brother?” Devon asks excitedly. “Yes he is but I need you to lower your voice. He's really little and we don’t want to scare him with loud noises.” Louri says. “Like you?” Devon asks Louri. “Well I don’t like loud noises for a different reason.” Louri says. “Are your sisters still up?” I ask since it’s only five o’clock. “They are playing in the living room.” Devon says. “Ok why don’t we all go sit in there and I can introduce you to your brother how does that sound?” I say. “Ok Mommy.” He says and runs to the living room. “How does he have so much energy?” Robbie asks as we walk to the living room. “He’s six which equals a giant ball of energy.” Louri chuckles. “Oh my goodness, look at him.” Liz coos as she walks over from the little table the twins are drawing at. “Hey girls come here.” Louri says getting the twins' attention. “Mama.” Louisa says and clings to Louri the second she sees her. “Is dat little brother?” Louisa asks. “Yeah sweetie, that's Thomas.” Louri says as she helps Louisa get comfortable on her lap. “He is small.” Maya says sitting on my other side. “That’s because he’s a baby.” I tell her. “But you got bigger than dat Mommy.” Louisa says well you little shit. “You will understand when you are older.” I tell her. “I tink you pretty Mommy even when you big.” Maya says, hugging my waist. “Thank you, I think.” I say wrapping my free hand around her.
