~Chapter 6: A Positive Attitude..~
♡Debbie's P.O.V♡
I pulled out a bundle of warm clothes out of the upright dryer and put them in the clothes basket I had in front of me.
It wasn't long until I have another load of laundry in the dryer as well. I pick up the clothes basket, walked out the room and walked upstairs.
The only person that was in the house was me, myself and I. Aubrey took the girls to go get something to eat, I decided to stay home and do laundry, someone has to do it..
I sat on the bed and began to fold the clothes as I pulled them out of the basket, it was mostly me and Aubrey's clothes with the occasional baby clothes that seem to come out of nowhere. I try to keep our clothes separate but somehow they always seem to find there way in here.
As I was about to put Aubrey's clothes in his dresser, my phone started to ring, I pick it up and answered it quickly.
“Diva!”
“Hey boo!” Ashley yelled after I put the call on speaker phone. “What you doing?”
“Putting away clothes,” I opened Aubrey's dresser and sat his clothes in, it was almost impossible because he has some much.
“Aww, look at you playing wifey,” she laughed a little.
I stuck my tongue out like she could see me. “I am his wife,”
“So, how are you and Wheelchair Jimmy doing?” she said the last part loudly.
For some odd reason, their relationship was always comical to me, they would always make jokes about one another that would be hurtful to any normal person. It kinda reminded me of the relationship between me and my sister, Tammy, I never really paid attention to it before.
“Great, I just think the spark is gone out of our marriage but it's great,” I hit my forehead slightly for saying what I just said, Ashley always had a way of bringing the truth out of me whether I like it or not.
She laughed loudly. “Your marriage is almost two, TWO years old,”
I flopped down on the bed and started folding more laundry. “That's what's crazy about this whole thing but it kinda felt rushed, don't you think?”
“No comment, besides, you been madly in love with this burnt marshmallow all your teenage life,”
I giggled. “You make me sound like a crazy, mental, obsessed girl,”
She didn't say anything.
“Hello?” I picked up the phone, making sure the call didn't disconnect. “Ashley?”
“I'm here, I was trying to wait until you realize you were actually that!”
“I wasn't!” I protested.
She scoffed. “Says the girl that has recurring dreams about that man like he was the sexiest thing since sliced bread,”
I frowned. “I am not going to respond to that,”
“Because you know it's true,”
I put the remaining clothes in my dresser, grabbed my phone and the basket and walked back downstairs.
After I didn't say anything for a while, she began to talk again. “What are you doing now?”
I sat the basket in the laundry room and walked to the kitchen. “About to make me something to eat. You must don't have to work today, do you?”
“Why you say that?”
“Cause you bothering the hell out of me and you only do that when you're not working,” I tossed my phone on the counter and it hit hard.
“Baby?”
I turned around to see who exactly said that but we I thought about it, it wasn't that hard to figure out. “I'm in here,”
“Who was that?” Ashley's voice blared through the phone.
Aubrey walked into the kitchen with a grocery bag.
“Hey sweetie,” I pecked his lips softly as he sat the bag on the counter. “What's in the bag?”
“I bought you a plate, we went to this Mexican restaurant,”
I took the to-go plate from the bag and sat it in the microwave. “Thank you, it smells good,” then I started to wipe off the counter.
Aubrey grabbed my hand that I was wiping of the counter with, making me stop. “You been cleaning all day?”“Sorta,” I didn't look at him. “I talked to Scooter today,”
“About?”
“The whole situation with the chef, I asked if he could get me someone else,” I slowly starting cleaning.
Aubrey sighed. “Alright Debbie, what's going on with you?”
I laughed softly. “Nothing,”
“Then why didn't you sleep in the bed last night?”
I froze. He noticed?
Last night, I couldn't get to sleep no mattered how hard I tried, it was crazy. I slept in the rec room most of the night bit made sure I went back in the room before Aubrey would notice, obviously I failed.
“What? I'm good!” I smiled brightly.
He looked at me. “Debbie, I am your husband, you-”
“And I'm your wife,” I snaked my arms around his neck and kissed his lips repeatedly. “Where are the kids?”
He nuzzled my neck and inhaled deeply. “With my mom,”
Light bulb!
“Then, let's go upstairs and watch a movie or.. Something,” I did the creepy eyebrow thing where you raise them up and down quickly.
He looked at me sympathetically. “I have to go to the studio, Little Debbie cakes,”
I eyed him, mad that he called me something that I was hoping he didn't know about, and folded my arms. “You think you funny?”
“I am,” He kissed me before grabbing his keys. “I love you,”
“You too,” I said as he started to walk out the door but he stopped.
“You too?” he walked back in the kitchen. “That's all I get?”
I looked around, his response took me by surprise. “I love y-”
He tossed his keys on the counter. “Get upstairs,”
“What?” I frowned, extremely confused.
Aubrey walked to to, towering over me like he was the tallest person in the world. “We're going to “watch” a movie, more like make a movie,”
I laughed hysterically and started to walk upstairs. Aubrey smacked my behind hard urging me to walk faster.
For the first time since we have been together, it felt like Aubrey put me before whatever else he has going on, like I was his top priority and it felt amazing.
That night, we made up for the few months we haven't physically and mentally been together to last us a while. His old wheelchair would come in handy right now because he can barely move now.
