S1 E5: The Stick Cup

Chapter 2

Second POV

"We really need to get a bigger vehicle," said Yellow as he climbed out of the trunk.

"Yeah," said Red, "Maybe we can sit on the roof."

"That's illegal," said Purple, "Come on before there are no more seats left."

"Uh, my legs fell asleep," said Red

"I got you."

Blue gave Red a piggyback as they went inside the stadium.

"Seven tickets, please."

After Mango paid for the tickets, they went inside the stadium.

"There are a lot of sticks here," said Second

"Told you it was popular," said Mango

"Yeah, they even have special cars and trophies for display," said Purple

"Good afternoon, Stickville," said the announcer. "Welcome to the Thunderbolts tour. We have an exciting race for you today, so let's get started."

The racers took off, speeding through the track like it was nothing.

"Wow! Look at how fast they're going," said Red

"Yeah, I wonder how they made them go that fast?" wondered Yellow

Second lean on the rail, trying to absorb all the action.

"How come we never did a Minecraft car race back home?"

"I don't know," Blue said, "Who do you think would have won?"

"Me!" said Second and Green at the same time. They look at each other in surprise before Green turns away quickly.

"You guys can't get competitive now; you aren't even racing."

"Yeah, right," Second sighed.

He cast an awkward glance at Green before looking at the ground. Even since the fire, things have been strained between him and Green. I mean, they were all shocked by the return of the Dark Lord and the discovery of Second's powers, but...

He shook his head.

I don't know. I just wish we could bond over silly competitions again

"Look like we have a winner!"

"Wait, the race is over already," said Purple, " I thought they last longer."

Second watched as the announcer went to the center of the stadium

"You may be wondering why today's race was so short," the announcer said, "Well, we have a special surprise for all of you. For the first time ever, we are having our first fan race."

"Wait, what!" yelled Purple.

"That's right. You will be able to race each other on this very track. Each car has two seats, so find a partner and get down here."

"Ok, so how do we decide who is partnering with whom?"

"We can draw straws," suggested Purple

"But there's seven of us. It won't be even," said Yellow

"It's ok," said Mango, " I won't race."

"But this like a once-in-a-lifetime experience," said Purple

"I know but I have another dream that I want to make come true today. I'll be back."

Second watched Mango go down to the track, specifically in the direction of the announcer

I wonder what he gonna do?

"Alright," Purple said, holding a bunch of straws, "If your straws are the same length, you're partners."

They draw straws, and Second's straws match with Red's.

"Look like we're partners." Second said, smiling

"I got Purple," said Yellow

"That's leave me and Green," said Blue

"Let's go!" Red shouted as he ran down to the track

They went down to the stadium to pick out their cars.

"Come on, Second! I've already picked out our car."

"In a minute. I want to look at the cars and trophies."

"Alright."

While Second was wandering around the trophies and cars, he almost ran into Green.

"Sorry!" he said, "I thought I was the only one in here."

"It's ok."

There was an awkward silence for several minutes.

I have to do something he thought This can't last forever

"So...do you think you can beat me in the race?"

"What?"

"Do you think you can beat me in the race? I mean, I'm pretty confident I'll win regardless."

"Are you kidding," Green scoffed, "We're just driving in a circle. I could beat you in my sleep."

"Prove it then," Second said as he put his hand out

Green stared at him for a moment before slowly smiling and shaking his hand.

"Ok, but don't be mad when you lose."

"I won't," Second smirked.
