Christmas Poem

T'is a week before Christmas,
And in all this holiday cheer,
I fear I have overeaten,
So many desserts... oh dear.

The relatives have gathered,
And oh my, I need rest,
from their bickering and bantering,
over who is the best.

There have been ups, and there have been downs,
There have been smiles, and there have been frowns,
Which is to be expected, for if joy were a constant high,
it would soon become "normal", not us soaring through the sky.

One cannot have a mountaintop,
without the deeper ravine,
Sometimes we just need to stop,
And admire the valleys so green.

T'is a week before Christmas,
Soon I'll have some rest,
And I shall silently grin, for my relatives,
never did figure out who was the best.

Merry Christmas!

And a Happy New Year!

Make sure you get plenty of rest!
