Another Christmas celebration without him
18 consecutive years I feel the hollow in my heart
Another year I can't get the only gift I long for
A father's touch
They say a girl child's first love is her father
But I've never felt it
I've never seen his adoring eyes looking down on me
I've never felt his warm embrace like that of a blanket
I've never felt that anxiety of always wanting his approval for everything
They say you can't miss what you've never seen
But I feel the emptiness in my heart even without having met you before
That pain of seeing other children crying for their fathers
Always longing for their fathers' approval
I wish I could just get a chance to meet you
Or at least I wish God gave you a chance to see me even for a day
But you had to go believing that I'd be great and do you proud regardless of where you may be
I don't know if those are just bed time stories to calm me down
But one thing I know is that I love you
Others say till we meet again
But for me, I can't wait to finally meet you one day
But I'll make sure to live my life to the fullest and always make you proud
