Cedric's 2nd Chance

Chapter 2

Narrator: Cedric went down to fetch Sofia. He went to her room and knocked on her door. But there was no answer.
He knocked again. Still no answer. So he opened her door and called out.

Cedric: Sofia? Are you in here?

Narrator: The room was empty. Cedric was puzzled.

Cedric: Where could she be?

(Wormwood shrugs and caws)

Cedric: Hmm.

Narrator: Cedric left her room and started looking for her.
While he was looking, he met up with Prince James.

James: Hey Cedric.

Cedric: Prince James. Do you know where Sofia is? She asked me to help her with her magic earlier, and now I can't find her.

James: Hmmm. I think she might be at her secret garden.

Cedric: Secret Garden?

James: Yeah. She goes there when she wants to be alone for awhile.

Cedric: Oh. Well, do you know where it is?

James: Sure. Come on. I'll show you the way.

Cedric: Thank you your Highness.

James: No problem.

James: Right through there.

(James points down the path to the woods)

Cedric: Um. . .

James: It's ok. It's totally safe. Don't worry.

Cedric: Alright. Thank you again.

James: No problem.

(James leaves)

Cedric: Come on Wormy.

Narrator: Cedric and Wormwood went through the woods and found a secret door. He opened it up and went through.
When he went through, he was astounded.

Cedric: Wow. This place is amazing.

(Wormwood caws in agreement)

(Sofia appears)

(Wormwood caws two times)

Cedric: There she is. Thanks Wormy. Let's go.

(Sofia is leaning against a tree)

Cedric: Huh? What's she doing?

Sofia: I study hard, I read the books
But everywhere I turn
It seems like there's a zillion things
That I still need to learn

I've got the shoes, I've got the dress
That makes me a princess, I guess
I have all the stuff
But is it enough
To make me a success

Oh, how do I keep on trying and just stay strong
When so many times, I wonder if I belong

(Cedric follows Sofia and keeps listening)

They look at me, what do they see
Am I royal or just pretending to be
But this is the day, to make them all say
That I fit in perfectly

I've got to keep on trying and just stay strong
Cause this is my chance to show them that I belong

(Cedric starts smiling)

Is it all about the fan or which dress someone wore
Cause I would think, that what's inside
Should mean a whole lot more

So I gotta go and take this test,
I'm gonna try my very best
To make the right move
And finally prove
I'm as royal as the rest

Yes, I'm gonna keep on trying and I'll stay strong
Cause this is my chance to show them that I belong

(Sofia sits on a garden bench)

(Cedric stays hidden)

There may be things
I may get wrong
But I gotta just stay strong
I'm gonna finally show them
I belong

Sofia: (Sighs)

Cedric: (To Wormwood) Wow. I never knew she felt that way.

Sofia: Mr. Cedric?

Cedric: (Startles and falls down)

(Sofia runs to his side)

Cedric: Sofia. Sorry. .I. . .

Sofia: What are you doing here?

Cedric: I. .uh. . . I was looking for you actually. To see if you still want me to help you with your magic.

Sofia: Oh. Well, of course I still want you to help me. But how did you find me here? And how long were you listening?

Cedric: Long enough. (Nervous chuckle)

Sofia: Oh. Then why didn't you say something?

Cedric: I. . . I don't know.

(They stare into each others eyes)

Cedric: (Clears throat) Well, come on. Let's get to your magic homework.

(They leave the garden)
