Episode 25

"Daddy!" Mavi called out as soon as she saw her father, she let go of Cameron's hand running over to the side of the bed that the nurse wasn't at as she stitched some of the deep wounds on his arms. Cameron wondered over as well just glad to see that his best friend was okay after what he had seen the tiger do to him.

"Hey baby girl." Joe breathed just able to lean over and kiss her head. He was in pain but he tried his best to forget about that not wanting to worry his daughter anymore than what he had to. He knew he had pain relief coming through a vein in his hand which would make him feel better once it had taken affect. He just wanted Mavi to know that he was okay and that she didn't need to worry about him. He would always be there for her.

"Are you okay?" Mavi questioned.

"I'm fine Mavi, look I have extra blood going in this arm and special medicine going in this arm to make me feel better. I also have this nice nurse making my booboos feel better." Joe reassured her making the little girl giggle.

"Why did the tiger get you?" Mavi questioned, Joe knew that he was going to get loads of questions from his daughter about what happened. She was at that age where she wanted to know everything that happened and why it happened. Joe knew why she attacked him. He got too close to her cubs and she wasn't a tiger which they had hand raised from a cub herself, she was the only one which they usually took extra precaution when going near.

"Because I got too near her babies, I'd attack someone if they got near you." Joe joked making her giggle again.

"I got a text from Darren, they've decided to put her down." Cameron stated, Joe just sighed and closed his eyes turning his head away.

"Daddy?" Mavi mumbled but Cameron took her hand.

"Let's let daddy rest for a bit, you can see him again soon." Cameron encouraged leading her out the room Mavi's eyes not leaving him until she couldn't see him no longer. She hugged her Grandmother as she held her arms open for her.

"I don't want her to be put down, it wasn't her fault, it was mine." Joe stated after his stitches had been done and Cameron was allowed back in the room. His parents had already been in to see him with Nick and Mavi but all left after Mavi started to get a little tired. She was worried about her father still even though she had seen him. She would be staying with her Grandparents tonight Joe not being released from the hospital quite yet.

"I know but there's nothing we can do about it, it's in the contract of the zoo." Cameron reminded him, Joe just sighed again leaning back on the bed.

"What are we going to do about the cubs? I can't take them cause I already have Lilo and Leeroy, not many of us are permitted to hand rear babies." Joe stated.

"I'll take them, don't worry about anything like that Joe. Just recover so you can go back home." Cameron reassured him but Joe couldn't help but think about the future of the cubs without their mother. She didn't want their mother to be put down in the first place, it was his own stupid fault and now she was suffering for his mistake. He knew he couldn't do anything about that though and he knew that he wanted to somehow make it up to the cubs.

"Go Cameron." Joe mumbled.

"Visiting hours don't end for another half an hour." Cameron stated.

"I know you have a date, I'll be fine here." Joe reassures him, Cameron couldn't help but chuckle patting his shoulder gently.

"I'll be by tomorrow, feel better." Joe said goodbye to his best friend before he left. He settled down a little more on the bed shutting his eyes hoping to get some sleep.
