It was one of my favourite memories from earlier times in here. How we would throw away everything for that one day to be true.

"Hey Nomad?"
"Hmm?"
"Do you think we'll ever see the surface? The sky?"
The soft pattering of paws on the cave floor accompanied the silence.
"Maybe. Haven't we already seen the sky?"
"When?"
"When we were human."
Dusk turned towards me.
"But that doesn't count. We can't remember that."
"It's still true, though."
"Yeah, I guess."
We approached the little lake tucked away in the corner of the cave, hidden by the vines and lustrous crystals.
"What do you think's above this place?"
I sat down on the edge.
"Trees, grass, fresh air, and the sun."
"The sun."
I twirled one of the plants around my digit.
"Maybe we'd get to see the sun set."
I looked over at Dawn. His gold eyes shone.
"You really think so?"
"Yeah. We'd sit on the hills someday, and watch the sun set. Watch the night sky, night stars. The moon."
"And then we'd wake up..."
"...and watch the new dawn."
I hoped someday we would be able to watch the sun rise. The new dawn. The *aurora nova*.
It was only a chance, though.
I picked up the stone resting under my paw, and threw it into the lake, disturbing the still water.
"Quit throwing stones, you know you have bad aim. You're going to hit me someday."
"And I wouldn't regret it."
"Hey!"
I laughed. He laughed.
We could only hear the water dripping from the spikes after the laughter stopped.
And for a while, I just lay there. He just laid there.
Until we both fell asleep, under the glistening crystals of the cavern.
