THE STORM had become loud in the camp, the murmured silence surrounded the infirmary where both Jackson boys stayed. One unconscious to the world and the other silent, brain and body numb.

Kaiden sat beside his brother, eyes puffy from fallen tears and body bruised with unseen injuries he was not willing to get help for. He didn't and wouldn't leave his brother's side. The older boy held Percy's hand, it was the only thing that confirmed to him that was still there, that he was still alive.

When they had finally reached camp, campers from all sides approached the little group of soaked boys. They looked at the two with curiosity, some with questioning hate, others with doubt. He could care less for them, he just wanted his brother to be safe.

They were brought to the infirmary where they would stay until Percy woke up, the air was thick. Kaiden felt completely and utterly numb. His brain was still trying to figure out if what had happened was a real or an act of his imagination like his nightmares. But no, in the back of his brain, he knew what had occurred was real. They had lost their mother and the horn on the table confirmed it.

The teenager was silent, after they had helped Percy and tried helping Kaiden, to no avail they had left the boys to rest, and he cried into his hand, his broken sobs concealed under his bruised hand. His shoulder shook with the force of his sobs. His eyes were red and swollen framed by glistening tears.
