"Wow," the only word that I managed to whisper as I stared at the fiery lights in the ocean above. It was so peaceful-so quiet.
The campfire was crackling in front of me. Rusty lay in his sleeping bag a few feet away from where I sat on my sleeping bag. The Autobots were all a few feet away resting inside the junkyard. Everything was so calm-so soothing. Quiet nature like this helped me to forget my father-the troubles-the pain.
So many stars. How many of those stars glittering above were other planets with more aliens or Cybertronians on them?
"There are hundreds of other systems each with many thousand planets," a voice suddenly spoke.
Startled, I glanced to the side. Bumblebee was leaning against the shed a few feet away. I had not realized I had spoken my thoughts aloud. Biting my lip, I grew thoughtful. "Are there many more Cybertronians like you, Autobots?"
Straightening, he nodded and walked over closer to me, joining me as I gazed up at the sky. "Yeah, though not all of them are good."
"Decepticons," I thought aloud, remembering Sideswipe's description of why they were on this planet. A shadow came over me and I shivered, thinking of the dangerous robots. I sure hoped I never ran into anu, especially when my mom and I moved to the city.
"See that bright slightly green star?"
I followed where Bumblebee was pointing. If I squinted ever so carefully, I could see the tiny little green speck. "Yeah, I see it."
"That's the Hadean system," the autobot explained. "Cybertron is one of the many planets found inside it."
"Y/N?"
Yawning, I turned and looked at Bumblebee. "Yeah?"
He paused, and for a moment I thought I saw a flicker of uncertainty cross his face. But it was quickly replaced by a slate of emotionless. "Where do you come from?"
"Woodbarrow, Virginia," I replied, tucking my arms behind my head as I stretched out on the ground. Frowning slightly, I looked up at him. "Why?"
The autobot shrugged, looking away. "No reason."
I sensed he was hiding something but when I opened my mouth to speak, he was already walking away. Oh well, I'll ask him in the morning. With a final yawn, I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep...
"Y/N! Y/N, wake up!"
Someone shook my shoulder. I opened my eyes groggily and sat up to find myself on my bed in my bedroom. My mom stood in front of me with an anxious look on her face.
"Y/N, we need to go now!" she grabbed my arm, pulling me off the bed.
"Wait, what?" I stammered, still trying to grasp the situation. "Why?"
"Your father...we need to go!" Holding my hand, she practically dragged me down the stairs and to the front of the house. She threw the front door open. "Run!"
I ran down the steps. But I did not hear footsteps after me. "Mom?" Confused, I turned to see her in the clutches of my father. His arm was around her neck and his eyes were dark-almost a deep glowing red.
My father squeezed my mother's neck as she struggled and then I heard a crack.....
"Ahhhh!"
Sitting upright, I gasped, gazing around widely. I was....at the campsite...in front of the dying embers of fire.
Rusty was a few feet away-the Junkyard just a stone's throw away.
It had all been just one big terrifying dream.
Running a hand through my dark brown hair, I sighed in relief. I went to lay down but suddenly I heard a twig snap.
Instantly I froze, my anxiety taking the best of me. A cold shiver went down my spine. "Rusty..." my voice came out in a whisper. He did not answer, remaining fast asleep.
The rustling grew louder, then suddenly stopped.
Getting up, I began walking towards the noise-it was probably just a bunny but until I found the source of the noise I would not be able to fall back asleep.
I began walking past the trees, scanning the bushes. There was silence...than... footsteps?
"Bee?" Alert, I glanced around.
A sudden whirring noise made me jump.
"Strongarm, Sideswipe?" I began to be more than a little nervous. Maybe trying to find the source of the noise had not been a good idea after all. "Fix-it, is that you?"
Once again the forest fell silent.
My mind was made up-I was heading back. Going into a dark forest during the middle of the night on my own was a stupid idea.
Turning, I went to retrace my steps, when I realized something. Wait, which direction did I come from?
The trees and bushes all made a circle around me-there was no clear cut path.all of a sudden everything looked so familiar-too alike. I had no idea which way was the right way!
Where was I?
"Did I go this way?" I wondered aloud, walking past a tree. "Wait no, I haven't seen that boulder before!"
I was starting to freak out-now I was lost all alone in a dark forest-at night. This was just great.
There was another rustling sound-this time louder and closer.
Something shot over head-hidden by the shadows.
I let out a slight shriek, watching where the "something" had disappeared in a nearby tree. Two glowing eyes stared back at me-dark and mysterious.
"Nice bird...." I whispered, heart thumping. Slowly I backed up, hands out as if in surrender. There was a crunch behind me.
"Ah!" Whirling around, I gasped, terror filling me.
A large-three story tall shadow stood now in front of me-one glowing red eye glaring deep into my soul.
