Meeting Lilac

[Sirens can be faintly heard in the background but the sound of the rain is most present. There are few cars driving by on the lonely street this late at night. It's 1:34 and Lilac is inside the "Targets Base." The center for young computer hackers and brilliant runaways. Lilac is among the elite there. She sits in the front with her own space set up. Sebastian approaches.]

"Lilac, the newspaper is here. Stupid ass just left it out in the rain again but at least he put it in the plastic wrap this time." Sebastian tosses the newspaper to Lilac and she catches it flawlessly.

"Damn." Lilac shakes her head.

"Yeah. I saw it too. Another kid killed, he was a member here too."

"It says the FBI are here to assist the local police with the investigation, is that bad?"

"They're just a district away anyways but i guess it depends, did you cover your tracks when you hacked into the local database."

"You know I did. None of those no-brain idiots will be able to track me. I just... I heard this thing."

"What thing?"

"I heard they're using their own technical analyst. When they made the hacker connection they brought her in. Zella told me first and I didn't think much of it but now I'm a bit concerned."

"So what? There isn't any player that plays the game as good as you do baby. And how do you know that's the truth anyway?"

"It's in the paper."

"I swear you are faster than my P.i. program when it comes to reading."

"Well that doesn't take much. Your P.i. program is hella slow."

"Yeah well not all of us can be a child genius."

[Sebastian walks away and through the double swinging doors. Lilac stares back at a picture frame. In it is a picture of her, her mother, father, sister, and Rebecca. She quickly looks away and blinks back tears as fast as she can. She hates being called a genius. She just hates it.]
