there was a lump under me.

a hard, warm lump.

i opened my eyes groggily and inspected what was beneath me.

shit!

my leg was stretched over Tom's lower body, and i was basically laying across his torso, my head resting on his chest.

i began to move—i had to get up slowly, so i didn't-

"i'm awake already." Tom stated, his eyes still closed.

"oh," i cleared my throat. "good morning...?"

his right eye cracked open and he watched me closely. "morning,"

"do you know the-"

"time? just gone six." the corner of his lips turned up. "don't worry, we haven't missed try-outs."

i took a deep breath and nodded. "okay,"

he closed his eyes again.

"i'd better go and get ready," i shifted. "Bella will be looking for me."

Tom was silent as i got out of bed and crossed the room.

"see you at Quidditch?" i turned back to him.

"breakfast," he corrected.

"but you never eat in the Hall," i frowned.

he shrugged. "i suppose i've had a change of heart."

i knew i shouldn't read too much into his words, but i couldn't help it.

a change of heart.

"see you at breakfast, then." i smiled a little.

the corner of his lips turned up ever so slightly as he nodded.

i opened the door and headed back to my bedroom unnoticed.

smiling to myself, i pulled my trunk out from under my bed and began sorting through my things, looking for my Quidditch kit.

"Isaurelia."

i shrieked, jumping backwards and grabbing my wand.

Bella was already dressed in her Quidditch uniform and was sat in a dark corner, one eyebrow raised.

"fuck, Bel!" i put a hand over my pounding heart. "don't do that!"

"where in Merlin's Beard have you been?" she took in my pyjamas and undoubtedly messy hair.

"sleeping." i answered.

"sleeping?" her eyes narrowed. "sleeping with whom?"

"i didn't sleep with anyone," i chose my words carefully. "just... shared a bed."

"right," she didn't believe me. "and whose bed did you share."

i sighed. "Tom's."

her face lit up and she clapped her hands.

"that doesn't mean anything-"

"of course it does, don't be so stupid." she clambered onto the bed. "details."

i rolled my eyes and continued looking for my Quidditch gear.

"i had a bad dream and heard him cry out when i woke up, so i went to his room to see if he was alright. he asked me to stay."

"how in Merlin's name did you hear him from all the way up here?"

"i have no idea."

"what was the dream about?"
