Hoseok had shown up dressed smartly.
They had rented bicycles, rode it all the way to a quaint barbeque spot next to Han river. And now, they walked along the river that glistened dully under the streetlights' faint glow. It was a moonless sky.
"That barbeque was amazing." Iseul sighed contentedly, hands on her belly.
"I'm glad you liked it." Hoseok chuckled. "Yoongi-hyung took us here once on a boys' night."
"I miss Yoongi and Namjoon." Iseul smiled at the thought of the contradicting partners. "The lunch table feels a little empty without them, even if Yoongi didn't used to bother showing up much."
"I agree."
Both the men had been extremely busy with their interning. The last they had seen them was in that Chinese restaurant before uni began. They planned to meet up next on Jungkook's birthday which was in three days.
"Iseul."
Hoseok's voice was breathy and she stopped walking, turning to him.
"I've wondered a million times how I'd say this to you. A million ways I could say it. A million times I could've said it."
She listened, smiling beautifully and Hoseok thought the reason the sky didn't have a moon today was because it had run away, not wanting to be put to shame by the extraordinary girl in front of him.
"I kept telling myself that I'd tell you, that I was just waiting for the right moment. But, those were just excuses. Truth was, I couldn't bear the thought of losing you if you were to step away from this."
"You won't ever lose me, Hobi." He wanted to use her voice as a blanket, wrap himself in it and stay there for the rest of his life. "Regardless of what happens."
"It took me way too long to convince myself of that." He quirked a smile.
And then, he shuddered out a breath.
He looked at her and she could see the emotion swimming in his eyes, thick and turbulent, expectant but also terrified.
He whispered, "You know what I'm going to tell you."
She nodded, small and barely visible.
She hugged him, arms clasping at the back of his neck and warm breath hitting his throat.
Oh, he wanted to die. This was happiness, bliss and pleasure and he wanted to die in it. He didn't want anything more in this world. He wanted to die with her being the last thing he felt.
His lips touched her ear when he spoke, "I'm in love with you."
He didn't like the way she didn't say anything. He didn't like the way she rubbed his back in soothing circles. He didn't like the way she didn't break apart from him and run, nor slam her lips into his and say the words back.
"Accept me." His voice broke. "Accept me, please. I'll give you everything you'd ever want, be everything you want me to be."
"I love you." Her lips tickled his throat when she spoke. "Hoseok, I love you."
"No." He shook his head against her, holding her closer to him. "No, don't say that, please."
"I love you."
"But, you're not in love with me."
"I'll always love you."
"You'll never... Never be with me."
"Hoseok---"
"Please---"
"Shh, I love you."
"Don't leave me."
