ACT THREE
INT. LAW OFFICE - CONFERENCE ROOM - MORNING
Puzzled, Spencer's agent TODD looks from Spencer to Olivia.
TODD
Wait... You two know each other.
SPENCER
(mumbles)
Unfortunately.
TODD
(off Olivia's nod)
Well, since you two have history, this should work out perfectly.
OLIVIA
Yes, except all of our history isn't good.
SPENCER
You can say that again.
Olivia rolls her eyes.
TODD
Is anyone's? Listen, Spencer fired his legal team because they failed to do their due diligence and left a lot of money on the table.
(a beat)
You come highly recommended. And as long as there's no conflict of interest there shouldn't be any issues. Sure we can all remain professional. Right?
OLIVIA
Of course, I can... But, Spencer may not--
SPENCER
Ya saying, I can't be professional?
OLIVIA
If you'd let me finish. I meant you may not think it's a good idea given the way we left things.
(off Spencer's scowl)
The way I left things.
SPENCER
I don't think much of you at all, Olivia... Past is the past. If you can remain professional so can I.
Olivia shoots daggers at Spencer. You can cut the tension with a knife, chile. Todd's eyes jump from Spencer to Olivia.
TODD
(clears throat)
Well, I guess that's settled then.
(looks at phone)
Hate to cut the meeting short but I gotta deal with a family emergency.
SPENCER
Okay, I'll walk down with you.
Spencer rushes to the door.
OLIVIA
(fuming)
Actually, Mr. James... A word, please.
Spencer turns around with a smirk. Todd shakes Olivia's hand.
TODD
Miss Baker, it's been a pleasure. I look forward to working with you.
(to Spencer)
Spence, we'll talk later this week.
Olivia sees Todd to the DOOR. A beat. She SLAMS it.
She turns on her heel and reduces the space between her and Spencer.
OLIVIA
Just what the hell are you doing?
SPENCER
(acts oblivious)
