Chapter 6

"Greetings, my children, multiple demons have been spotted in a city, I'm afraid it is not close by. Three of you will be sent there, come on out Kiriya" Ubuyashiki said

A small boy was sent out

"This is my eldest son. My son here will be the heir to the Ubuyashiki name and the Demon Slayer Corps if this illness takes my life before Kibutsuji's defeat"

The Hashira had no idea where his speech was going 

"This mission will be important, for his own good, I will be letting Kiriya decide the teams" 

The Hashira were speechless

"This kid better not do anything stupid" Sanemi said out of the corner of his mouth

Shinobu swiftly punched him in the arm "Take your time, child"

"Thank you" Kiriya scanned his eyes through the nine people he had to choose from "Err, Shinazugawa Sanemi-san, you will be sent" Sanemi nodded "Kocho Shinobu-san and Tomioka Giyuu-san" he quivered

He looked back at his father who had a soft expression "Not a bad try, although I don't believe Giyuu and Sanemi can stand each other. Sending Shinobu was wise though"

Kiriya made a scared expression "O-Okay then"

"Don't worry, Kiriya-kun. I shall keep them in line" Shinobu assured

"Promise?" he got off of the pedestal and stood in front of her

"Promise" she nodded and clasped his hands with a comforting smile. She patted his head carefully

Kiriya and looked at the three, all three rose and looked at the rest of the Hashira "We're out"

 The three disappeared before the Hashira's eyes

They ran through the forest, no words were exchanged.

"Keep up Tomioka" Sanemi glared back

'What an asshole' Giyuu rolled his eyes back until he could see the back of his head.

'Freaking bastard' Sanemi glared ahead

Shinobu saw a squirrel throw an acorn out of a tree, she caught it in her hands.
She could feel the tension between both Sanemi and Giyuu, when Giyuu's frown deepened she threw the acorn at the back of his head
"I promised Kiriya-kun that I would keep you two in line, so stop that"

Sanemi sighed and looked away from Giyuu, trying not to open his mouth.

"My oh my, three cute little Demon Slayers~. How would you three like to play with me?~" A demon with pale white skin and pure red eyes came out, it looked as if she had only been 5 or 6 when turned into a demon

"Cute little girl, would you like to be friends with me?" Shinobu asked

"Enough of that bullshit, Kocho" Sanemi swung his Katana forward

The demon swayed aside gracefully, she threw her arms forward and multiple oysters were at the insect Hashira's feet.

They suddenly blasted out pillars as thick as tree trunks. For a moment, as Shinobu dodged them, Giyuu felt as he were watching a butterfly.

"There are more, Tomioka-san Shinazugawa-kun, leave this one to me" no answer "Sanemi?" 

He was frozen. Both of them were.

"You really thought I'd let your friends kill the rest of the demons in this forest?" The girl demon gestured around herself "You think Demons are completely heartless, yes? We care for other demons of course, but I'd gladly watch the three of you slowly d-"

Shinobu jumped in front of the girl demon "This is your last night alive, leave the talking to the night sky" fast as sound the demon had a wound through her chest, butterflies swarming around her to prevent her from regenerating.
"Insect breathing butterfly dance, Caprice"

"Idiot, you can't kill a demon without beheading it. Some demon slayer you ar-" a scream of pain went through the air

Sanemi and Giyuu suddenly started moving

"Kocho I thin-"

"We need to find the rest of the demons, this is no time for chit chat darling" She jumped high enough. From high enough she genuinely looked as a butterfly.

Timeskip

"You three will be staying for the night?" an old lady asked the three

"Yes, is that fine by you?"

She smiled at Shinobu "Of course, I'll have three futons lined up in a room" 

She bowed down out of respect "Thank you, Madam. My apologies for coming so late at night" 

Small Timeskip

The three demon slayers lied down in white robes, they were lined up against each other and Shinobu slept in the middle to avoid them death glaring each other.

Once she fell asleep, Sanemi would periodically glance over her at Tomioka for no reason, though every time he would be staring at the ceiling as if he were having a stare down with the stars.

At some point he shuffled over and slept with his face down, Sanemi couldn't help but notice how dangerously close he got to Shinobu.

He tapped him on the shoulder. Giyuu woke up and looked at him questioningly, Sanemi pushed him away from Shinobu so he didn't get too close.

Giyuu glared over and heavily flopped back onto his face.

'I'm tired as f**k, why is this human scratching post staring me down?' Giyuu thought

'If that f**king bastard doesn't inch away from Kocho-chan, I'm ending his lineage' 

Timeskip to the morning

"Good morning, oh?" she looked at the boys, who looked as if they hadn't slept the whole night. Sanemi was glaring at Giyuu while Giyuu was only staring intimidatingly

 She turned to Giyuu first "Tomioka-san, why are there dark circles underneath your eyes? Did you sleep well  last night?~"

"I slept wonderfully" He said in a raspy voice

"Al-right? What about you Shinazugawa-kun?"

"I slept better than Giyuu did" he twitched his eye "Why don't we step outside?" he helped her up despite being more tired

Giyuu rose up from the futon sturdily and locked onto Sanemi's eyes

"I'll make breakfast for the both of you" Shinobu insisted

Sanemi didn't bother look at her "Okay, thank you"

She kept herself in the kitchenette while the boys sat at a small coffee table
