Alec, who had just closed his locker, was surprised by Elena, whose face looked hesitated yet with a hint of betrayal standing beside him. " Elena. What are you doing here?" he asked the brunette girl. "I... do you know about what Stefan and Damon are?" she whispered. "What do you mean exactly?" he asked back in a confused manner to hide the fact that he was shocked. "Come on, you know what I mean. Stefan has already told me who they really are. And he told me you knew, and plus, you went AWOL," she said in a frustrated tone. He looked deeply at Elena before nodding his head. "Fine. I do know what the Salvatore are." "Then, why didn't you tell me sooner?" Elena said, crossing her arms. "I don't know Elena. I mean, would you believe me if I said vampires exist?" I said it as if it were a matter of fact, which is true.

She nodded her head, having realized what I said was right. "Okay, fair enough. I just... It's hard, you know, for me to stomach the fact that the person I like is a vampire, and not just him but his brother too," she said with a hint of sadness in her voice. "I guess it's just a lot to take in all at once." I could see the conflict in her eyes, torn between her feelings for Stefan and the reality of his supernatural nature. "Well, as far as I knew about their true nature, Stefan never hurt anyone; he's a nice person, but I couldn't say the same about Damon." I said trying to reassure her. "But I understand that it's still a lot to process and accept. It's okay to take your time and figure out what you're comfortable with. And I'm sure Stefan had filled you in on everything," she nodded.

"Thank you, Alec," she said, sending me a grateful smile. "Anyway, I hope you don't mind if I ask you to come with me to Stefan's place." She said, "I just feel safer knowing that you'll be there too." I nodded, understanding her need for reassurance. "Of course, I'll be there with you," I replied.

"How did you know they were vampires?" Elena asked, her curiosity evident in her voice, while I was driving. I took a moment to gather my thoughts before answering. "Well, Damon attacked me during the comet night. Remember when I went home earlier? That's the reason. He bit my neck, and I could feel his fangs piercing my skin. It was a terrifying experience, but it also gave me a glimpse into their true nature. From that moment on, I knew they were vampires." Elena's eyes widened in shock as she processed the information. "He attacked you! "Are you- " I cut her off. "I'm fine; Stefan saved me just in time." I said, glancing briefly at Elena. She nodded her head in relief.

They arrived at the Salvatore boarding house not long after. Both of them walked toward the door, and Elena knocked on the door with a sense of urgency. As they waited for someone to answer,Elena glanced at him, and Alec gave her a reassuring smile. Finally, the door creaked open, revealing Damon Salvatore standing there with a mischievous grin on his face. "What do I owe for this pleasure?" Damon said it in fake politeness, leaning against the doorframe. Elena's relief turned into annoyance as she rolled her eyes at Damon's sarcastic remark. Alec, however, remained calm and composed, despite Damon's eyes boring into his. "Is Stefan here?" Elena said it without beating around the bush, getting straight to the point. Damon's mischievous grin widened as he replied, "Well, well, well, little miss "I'm on a mission". You're always so eager to see my brother, aren't you?"

Damon's antics made Alec roll his eyes. "How can you be pompous and glib after everything you've done?" Damon was scowled at by Elena. Stefan, I assumed, had told her everything about Damon's past actions. "How can you be so courageous and moronic to call a vampire pompous and glib?" Damon replied, amused. Alec made tapping sounds. "If you wanted me dead, I would be dead," said Elena. Damon chuckled, unfazed by Elena's comment. "Oh, yes, you would," he agreed, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "But I'm not," Elena stated. "Yet." Damon said it darkly while narrowing his eyes. "Where's Stefan?" Alec asked, breaking the tense atmosphere. Damon's eyes turned to him. "Well, he's upstairs singing The Rain in Spain. Knock yourself out," he said, finally breaking eye contact as he made a way for us to walk in.

I was going to follow Elena when my arms were grabbed. When I turned back, Damon's intense gaze was fixated on me. "What do you want now?" My voice was laced with irritation as I questioned Damon's hold tightened slightly, his gaze searching for something in my eyes. "Nothing," he said before loosening his grip on me. I gave him a sidelong glance. I shook off the encounter and hurried after Elena.

Stefan greeted me briefly before continuing their conversation with Elena. I stood on the sidelines while looking around, but a particular word caught my attention. "Vicki here?" I questioned both of them, to which Elena nodded, unsure. "Oh yeah, you gotta keep an eye on the new vampire in transformation." The pair looked shocked. "She is already a vampire now. But how do you know? I thought you didn't know." Stefan gave me a puzzled look. "Well, I was there when Damon turned Vicki. He mentioned something about Vicki's transformation during our last encounter." I grimaced at the mention of it. Elena and Stefan exchanged glances, and they nodded in understanding.

"What am I supposed to do? She's a vampire with issues. and I was lying to everyone I cared about. What will happen to her?" Elena said, looking at both me and Stefan. "I'm going to keep her here with me until I know that she's safe." Stefan reassures Elena. Suddenly, Vicki's voice was heard: "And how long is that?" she said as we all turned to look at her on the stairs. "We can talk about that later." Stefan let out a sigh. Vicki scoffed at Elena when she asked her how she was. In the end, all of us ended up sitting down while Stefan explained to Vicki about the perks of coffee for vampires.

"So you've never tasted human blood before?" I heard Vicki ask Stefan. Elena looked at him while I was listening with interest. Based on my observations, Damon is a lot stronger than Stefan, which seemed weird since both of them drink blood. It was intriguing to see the stark contrast in strength between Damon and Stefan, despite both being blood-drinking vampires. This discrepancy piqued my curiosity about the factors that might contribute to their varying abilities. As Vicki questioned Stefan about his experience with human blood, I couldn't help but wonder if this could somehow explain the differences in their powers. "Not in a long time." I raised an eyebrow at Stefan's statement. "How long?" Vicki asked back. Stefan turned to look at Elena before continuing. "Years and years," he said, looking up at Vicki. "I'm not proud of my past behavior." I just narrowed my eyes at that information.

Standing up, I excused myself to the toilet. As I walked away, I couldn't shake off the nagging feeling that there was more to Stefan's past than he was letting on. Perhaps his reluctance to delve into his history with human blood hinted at a darker side that he didn't want us to know. When I was done, I was met with a scene where tears stained Elena, and she was bickering with Stefan about something while clutching her own hand. Damn, so much happened in such a short time. Elena noticed me and said, "Come on, Alec, we're going back." Alec hurriedly followed her out while nodding at Stefan before going away.

The car was silent but not uncomfortable. "What happened to your hand?" I asked Elena softly before she went out of the car. "I.. Vicki threaned me, and she's broke my hand in warning," she's said with a pained expression. I could see the anger and fear in her eyes as she spoke. She shoots me a questioning look when I touch her injured hand. She soon gasped when black veins started spreading from where I touched her. She was about to free herself from my hold but stopped herself halfway, her eyes widening. "I don't feel pain," she stated, looking at me in astonishment with a tint of uncertainty. I let go of her hands, giving her space to process what was happening. "I just discovered recently that I can take away someone's pain," I explained to her when she looked at me.

"What are you?" she asked curiously, with no hint of fear. I smiled, relieved by her lack of fear. "I'm not entirely sure," I admitted, my voice tinged with a mix of wonder and confusion. "But I believe I possess a unique ability to absorb and alleviate the pain of others." She nodded her head, but I could see she was still awestruck by what happened. "Well, I better get going. Thank you for today. see you tonight at the Halloween party at the school," she said, smiling softly. I watched her until she was out of my sight before driving off. As I raced through the dark streets, a sense of unease settled over me, making me wonder what trouble would happen at the Halloween party tonight.
