You and Rayne were walking down the stairs of the secret door on the floor in silence. It was slowly eating you up, the tension between the two of you, and you knew you couldn't take it anymore. So you mustered up the courage to speak up.

''Hey, Rayne'' You said, breaking the silence. He glanced down at you with a raised eyebrow, waiting for you to continue.

''Are you always this quiet?''

Rayne let out a deep sigh before answering.

*silence*

''Oh wow.'' You rolled your eyes in annoyance.

''It was just a question. This silence is killing me. Please talk'' You pleaded

''What?'' He said, sounding annoyed. You pouted and tugged on his sleeve, desperate for him to say something, anything.

''Just say something'' You pleaded.

''Something'' Rayne replied stoically, causing you to click your tongue in frustration. You walked ahead of him now, not wanting to deal with his silence anymore.

As you continued to walk down the corridor, Rayne walked behind you, silently observing you. It was almost as if he was studying you, trying to figure you out. You couldn't help but feel uncomfortable under his intense gaze. But before you could dwell on it too much, you could see what was going on at the end of the corridor.

Before you could react, Rayne had already shot his sword straight ahead, taking out the thugs in one swift motion.

''Damn, how big is that sword'' You mumbled in awe as you looked at him.

You and Rayne had made your sudden appearance, and it was clear that he was annoyed for this very reason.

''Lang idiots everywhere'' You rolled your eyes, taking in the chaos around you. You happened to glance over at Rayne and noticed the blank look in his eyes.

''Wait, why are you here, Rayne?'' The one on the floor asked

'You're supposed to be gone'' He said nervously.

''He's right here, alright'' You snorted, looking at the idiot on the floor.

''And he's about to sort your stupid ass out''

'R-right, okay. Let's talk about this'' The idiot mumbled.

''We've got our reasons''

But you could tell Rayne was getting pissed off. He unleashed another attack, comprising of hundreds of swords being plunged into the ground from above. You quickly moved out of the way to get a better view, not wanting to get caught in the crossfire.

As Rayne finished off the last of the enemies, you walked over to your friends Dot and Finn, who had been watching from a safe distance. You patted Dot's head affectionately.

''You look beat'' You said with a smile.

''Go and rest, you strawberry''

Dot's eyes widened in surprise.

''It's the first time you've ever cared for me...Wahhhhh''He exclaimed, wrapping his arms around you. But suddenly, his body went limp and he collapsed onto the floor.

???

''I'm too tired...please carry me...'' Dot pouted as he held onto you, his injuries from the grueling fight still visible on his body. You couldn't help but let out a sigh as you looked at him.

''No way...Finn can carry you...'' You pushed him off gently, trying to maintain some semblance of your strength. Dot's pout only deepened, but you just giggled, ignoring his protests

...

''Finn...your brother...you two are so different...in a good way...'' You let out a chuckle as Rayne's kicking in the background

Dot and Finn had left the underground dungeon, leaving you with Rayne to continue interrogating the culprit. You happily walked over to him and sat down on the floor, watching Rayne beat the guy with a satisfied smile on your face. You held your hand in front of yourself and a flame appeared on your palm, a smirk forming on your face.

The flame began to change shape, molding into a slingshot as you aimed it at the man on the floor. You released it, the mini fireball hitting his forehead and leaving a small burn.

''Now tell me something...was it that doll creep who was behind this...you hurt my friends, you b*stard...'' You growled low as you glared at the man, who was now wincing in pain.

''Do you want to die?'' You asked calmly, but the one on the floor only whimpered in response, intimidated by your fiery display.

''Y-you can do magic without a wand...w-what the hell?'' He stammered, fear evident in his tone. You couldn't help but let out a chuckle at his reaction.

''I think that's the least of your concerns...'' You mumbled, your anger and frustration evident in your voice.

''Just leave'' Rayne said calmly, trying to diffuse the situation. But you weren't ready to back down just yet.

''No. I can make him talk'' You said calmly, your determination clear in your tone. Rayne let out a sigh, knowing that he couldn't change your mind once it was made up.

Once the interrogation was over, you let out a long sigh, feeling the weight of the day's events weighing down on you. You had been through enough for one day and all you wanted to do was go to bed. However, as you stood up from your chair, you noticed Rayne standing in the corner of the room, watching you the whole time.

''Thanks for that'' He said simply, his expression unreadable. You couldn't help but let out a small chuckle.

''It's all cool'' You replied calmly, trying to lighten the heavy atmosphere in the room.

''Just stick close to your friends'' Rayne said, his voice serious as he turned and walked away, leaving you in utter silence. You couldn't help but feel a bit confused and also a bit irritated by his cryptic statement. Before you could question him further, he was already out of the room

???

💭''Weird...''

''Can you at least tell me which number is your dorm number?'' You called out after him, hoping to at least get some useful information.

''What if I ever need help...?''

But Rayne just continued walking without turning back, leaving you feeling even more frustrated and a little hurt by his dismissive behavior.

''Rude. Are they all rude..?'' You rolled your eyes as you made your way back to your own dorm room.

As you entered your room and closed the door behind you, you felt a strange heaviness settle on your chest, causing you to pause for a moment. You rested your hand on your chest, feeling a surge of strange emotions rising up inside you.

''What the hell?'' You mumbled to yourself, trying to brush off the strange feeling. But it only seemed to intensify, causing you to take a step back.

!!!

A sudden tightness grew inside you, making it hard to breathe. You took deep breaths, trying to calm yourself down, but it wasn't working. Suddenly, you felt a sharp pain in your head, causing you to fall to your knees, clutching your head in agony.

''Damn it....what the hell..?'' You groaned, trying to gather your thoughts as the pain continued to radiate through your head. You had never experienced anything like it before, and you were starting to feel scared and helpless.

''You're next...Y/n...''
