'Princesa' I heard a voice say, nudging me slightly and petting my head. 'Despierta'

I slowly opened my eyes and saw a smiling Oscar squatted next to me. I pulled away from him and realized I was lying on the floor with the remote control in my hand.

'Couldn't sleep last night?' He asked me as I was still waking up.

He looks between the tv and me. Now he's gonna think I'm emotional and sentimental and shit.

'None of your business' I responded, taking the tiny smile off his face. I stood up, turned off the tv and went towards the kitchen.

'You want me to make you breakfast, princesa?' Oscar asked as I opened the cabinets. 'I'm good' I poured myself cereal.

'Goodmorning' Cesar walked into the kitchen with an awkward smile, looking between Oscar and I.

'Goodmorning, hermanito' I smiled at him. 'You want some cereal?' I asked him, holding out the box for him to take.

He smiled at me and took the box. I went to the fridge and searched for milk. 'You don't have soj milk?' I asked Oscar, furrowing my eyebrows at him.

'The fuck you want fancy milk for?' He asked me confused. 'Just take the milk that we have'

'My stomach hurts if I eat or drink regular milk. The cereal absorbs the milk.' I told him, rolling my eyes as I closed the fridge.

I saw Oscar have a look of realization on his face. 'Don't worry, I'm not surprised you don't remember things about me' I said, grabbing my bowl of dry cereal and a spoon. I'll eat it like this and I'll eat something at the mall later.

'I forgot, okay. Its a-' 'I'm going to the mall later' I interrupted Oscar's excuses. 'Who gave you permission?' Oscar raised his eyebrow at me.

'I don't need your permission' I continued eating my dry ass cereal. 'While I'm your guardian and your living under my roof, yes, you do' Oscar said, folding his arms and staring at me.

'Fine' I groaned. 'Can I go to the mall later?' I sighed.

'I'll go with you' he said, making my eyes widen. 'What? Why?' I exclaimed. 'Because I said so. You need shit for school' he said, making me roll my eyes.

I didn't like school when I was younger, I was more quiet with people who weren't my family.
I used to get picked on from time to time, but nobody knew. Its just child stuff, I don't make a big deal about it.

'You can walk with me and my friends to school' Cesar said excited, smiling at me. 'Who are your friends, hermanito?' I asked chuckling.

'Ruby, Monse and Jamal' he smiled. 'You're still friends with them?' I smiled as he nodded his head.

I liked those kids. They were really sweet from what I remember.

'Go get dressed, Dani'

'I need a phone' I said to Oscar as we walked into the direction of the Apple Store.

'You don't have a phone?' Oscar asked me confused as we entered the store. 'No, but the orphanage did' l fake smiled at him, letting him know that wasn't an excuse for never calling.

'Hi, can I help you guys?' We looked to our right and saw a girl smiling at us, smiling at Oscar a little too long and different from the smile she gave me.

'Yeah' I broke her out of her trance as she turned her attention back to me. 'What phone do you guys have that doesn't cost a shit ton of money, but still works great?'
