Birdy

Ch 1

Its the first day of sophomore year, instead of driving my own truck Sawyer drove me. (My brother) Its nerve racking even looking at the school but I have to push through; Sawyer hands me his dab pen i take a blinker and get out of the truck. Sawyer meets his friends at the door iI continue walking inside "hey birdy" I turn around to see my best friend Zach "hi Zach" we start to walk in no particular direction. I pull my schedule out from my back pocket Zach notices and does the same "show each other on the count of three?" I say, we stop walking
"K 1,2,3" we look at them all 7 classes are the same, we continue walking to our first class
At lunch:
Me and my friend Alyssa sit down at our table
"So are we hanging out after school?" Alyssa says "Sawyer and me are going to the track do you wanna come?" She thinks for a second "yea I'll go home and grab my bike and meet you guys there" she says "ok if you want to stay for dinner that's fine but zach is coming aswell"
Alyssa nods and we eat in silent on our phones. A hand reaches down and grabs something out of my lunch box; I turn to see waylon (sawyers twin or my oldest brother) "hey Alyssa how are you?" Im disgusted Alyssa and Waylon like each other. "I'm good how are you" "Ok I'm gonna  go to the bathroom I'll be back" I say i get up and walk into the hallway I see Zach with his friends; I wave at him he waves back and I continue walking he follows "can we talk?" I stop walking and turn to him "do you like me?" Im taking aback by his statement I mean i don't know the answer to his question but I know the right answer "no why?" I look off as he thinks of his answer I see Alyssa and Waylon watching us. Zach has yet to answer, oh my god Zach likes me  "no reason I was just asking" he says "do you like me Zach Jay?" His big brown eyes stare at me in shock  "no birdy I do not like you it's just someone said you liked me." I raise my eyebrow "ok I'll see you at dinner tonight" I walk away Alyssa runs up to me "so what did Zach say" I stop for a second
"Did you tell him to ask me out" she shakes her head "no why DID HE ASK YOU OUT" i cover her mouth and walk into the bathroom "no he did not ask me out he asked me if I liked him"
"But you do like Zach so if you said yes wouldn't he ask you out?" I shush her and point at the feet under the door "ok ok"
At the track:
I'm getting my bike out of the back of the truck when Zach pulls in I look at sawyer "what's wrong birdy you don't wanna see your best friend" "i knew you guys knew" Zach gets out and pulls my bike out he helps me down off the truck when Alyssa rips in leaving dust flying she hops out and pulls her bike down we all grab our gear and head to the bathrooms me and Zach walk out first "you ready to get your ass kicked" i say "yea right" i laugh
On the track:
We all have our bikes started Alyssa and Zach wait as me and sawyer race off I'm keeping up right behind sawyer i pass him and hit a jump i look behind me sawyer makes the jump but lands a little hard almost going over his handle bars but he gets back up behind me  we go on and on sawyer not giving up but once we've circled the track twice we both couldn't go anymore so we pull back up to the truck next to Alyssa and Zach I pull off my helmet and grab a water from the truck.
"Do you guys wanna grab food and come back?" Sawyer said we all nod "alright birdy your riding with Zach" i nod and put my dirt bike in the back of the truck aswell as everyone else. I get in Zach's truck and we pull out. A few minutes into the drive Zach turns down the music "how'd you feel if me and Alyssa started dating" that's a random question but I'd hate it
"You could date her why do you ask?" He shrugs "I've been friends with her a while and we seem to like each other" we've been friends for 10 years and i thought we got closer over the summer but it's not like I even like Zach it's just I sorta think his brown eyes are the prettiest brown I've seen and "loralai" "don't call me that" he gives me a breathy laugh "hey how about instead of dinner tonight me and you go to the bonfire hunter Lexington is having its at the old barn down skimmer rd" he says I think for a moment "sure"
