The atmosphere in the room was filled with longing and affection as Maeve sat on her end of the video call, the pixels on the screen bringing Oscar's face to life. His surroundings hinted at the race-day buzz, with the muted hum of the paddock in the background.

"You getting into the car soon?" Maeve asked, her eyes searching his face for any hints of pre-race nerves.

"Yeah, the car is seemingly better than how it started off, so we might just get a good result this season after all," Oscar spoke, a mix of optimism and determination in his voice.

"Well, I'm glad everything's working out, and I miss you so much. I wish I was there, but since I'll be working from home for a while, they have me doing too much work," Maeve whined, a pout playing on her lips.

"Maeve, honey, your career's as important as mine, so you gotta work hard too, babes. And it's the last race before the summer break, we'll see each other soon," Oscar reassured her, his eyes reflecting a comforting warmth.

"And Taylor too," Maeve added excitedly, a spark of anticipation in her eyes.

"And Taylor Swift," Oscar agreed with a grin, sharing in her excitement.

The harsh buzz of the race environment surrounded Maeve as she sat in her office, glaring at her laptop screen. The recent incident on the track had clearly agitated her, and she couldn't help but vent her frustration to Oscar, who was miles away in the paddock.

"What the fuck was that? Can I punch Sainz?" Maeve shouted into her phone, her tone sharp with irritation.

"Maeve, it was an accident," Oscar tried to reason, his voice steady.

"Accident or whatever it is, what's with that attitude? Does he hate you or something? I don't understand how a grown man can beef with you," Maeve said, her frustration palpable.

"Maeve, it's racing. Things like this happen, and we can't hold grudges. So, no punching or bad-mouthing him, okay? He's Lando's friend," Oscar said calmly, trying to appease her.

"Fine, but don't expect me to smile at him for a couple of races," Maeve said defiantly, still frustrated.

"Fine, love. I'll see you soon," Oscar said, his soothing tone attempting to ease the tension.

Oscar stood by the door, his patience evident as he waited for Maeve to wrap up her last-minute preparations. The room buzzed with a mixture of excitement and a touch of chaos as Maeve darted around, seemingly trying to gather everything she might need for their trip.

"Maeve, I'm sure you have everything that's needed for the trip, and we can buy it if you don't find it, really," Oscar reassured her, his voice calm and soothing.

"Two minutes! I'll be out!" Maeve's response echoed from the bedroom, carrying a mix of urgency and slight panic.

After what felt like an eternity but was only a total of ten minutes, Maeve emerged from the bedroom, her belongings gathered and packed. Oscar greeted her with a smile, eager to start their journey.

"Let's go?" he asked, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.

"Yeah, let's go," Maeve replied, her excitement matching his own.

Once they were finally settled in their seats and the hum of the engines indicated the plane had taken off, Oscar broke the silence.

"You happy?" he asked, his eyes filled with genuine curiosity.

"Well, of course. I have a dream job, I'm on my way to watch Taylor Swift, and then I'm going on a romantic getaway with my boyfriend. What can I possibly want more?" Maeve replied with a contented smile.

"Lestappen?" Oscar teased, a playful glint in his eyes.

"What can I say? You got yourself a Lestappen girlie," Maeve answered, embracing the lighthearted banter.

"Well, they are vacationing together, so your Twitter group will have pictures, I hope," Oscar remarked.

"You know, this summer break just gets better," Maeve mused, settling comfortably into her seat.

I know I have been gone, but I didn't die or anything! I had promised to finish this as soon as my exams were done, but I got selected for a research paper and I was too busy with that (I chose STEM but it is depressing as it goes) 2 more chapters, and I'll post it in a couple of hours.

Also no hate to Carlos but you should know Maeve is 22 years old and saw her bf crash!
