Meanwhile, Thomas was just finishing his work for the day. He was tired, but happy. He was going to watch a soccer game with his friends.

Sir Topham Hatt: "Ah, Thomas. I'll be going to watch the soccer in a bit."

Thomas: "Me too, sir. I can't wait."

Sir Topham Hatt: "Actually, I need you to shunt in the yard."

Thomas: "Oh. Yes, sir."

Sir Topham Hatt: "That's a good engine. I'll see you later tonight."

And Sir Topham Hatt left to watch the game. Thomas puffed sadly to the shunting yard. He was glad for his friends, but he couldn't help feeling sorry for himself. He missed the game, because he had to shunt in the yard. Thomas felt left out.

Thomas: (Sad Voice) *sighs* "I guess tank engines do have to shunt. Maybe Gordon is right. Tender engines don't shunt. Shunting is for silly little tank engines like me."
