Lily's POV-

"Am I that pretty?"

I stare at him dumbfounded at what he just said. I turned my eyes away from him embarrassed that he caught me staring. I don't know what I was thinking.

"Relax, I'm kidding. What's your name?"

I didn't know if I should answer. What if my brothers won't like me talking to anybody else? But I'd already humiliated myself in front of him, I owed him this.

"Lily," I said, offering him a little smile. It's been a long time since someone around my age has interacted with me, and it felt nice to know I'm not an outcast.

"I'm Levi." He raised his right hand up for a handshake, forgetting that it was in a sling.

"Damn it, that's the second time today." He said, cursing his hand and offering me a smile instead.

"So, what brings you here?"

"Just a check-up," I said, knowing I couldn't tell him the real reason. How my brothers fooled me into bringing me here.

"Oh, cool. Those are fun." He said sarcastically. Tell me about it.

"Why are you here?" I'm dumb. Somebody should hit me in the head for saying that one, and that's bad coming from me.

He chuckled at my obvious nervousness and said, "This guy right here," He pointed to his cast, "I crashed my car after coming from a party yesterday and to say my parents are furious will definitely be an understatement."

He said it so casually as if we had known each other for such a long time. Why can't I be like that?

"You are here alone?" He asked, noticing I was sitting alone before he came.

"No, my brothers are here. They are still with the doctor." I replied. How long are they going to take?

"I see, they threw you out, huh?"

"Yeah."

"You live with your brothers?" He asked again, after a long awkward silence.

"Yes, I moved with them a few days ago," I said, not bothering to explain it to him. How can I tell a random person that I lived with strangers till now?

"Damn."

"Which school do you go to?"

"I don't know the name. But my brother said it will start in a few weeks."

"Oh, yeah. You've just moved here." He said, nodding his head as he reminded himself what I said.

"Do you want to share numbers with me? We can chat if you want. Who knows when we'll meet again?"

He wants to be friends with me! I don't know why this made me feel so happy, but it did. Someone actually wants to talk to me, for once, in my life. But a couple seconds later, a sad knowing emotion washed over me. I don't have my phone and I don't remember my number. Why do these things happen to me?

"What's the matter?" He asked, noticing my mood shift.

"I don't have my phone and I don't even remember my number," I mumbled, feeling really bad.

"That's a bummer. Don't worry, if it's destined, we'll meet again." He said, trying to reassure me. But I know it's not gonna happen. When has fate worked in my favor?

"Yeah, I guess."

"How many brothers do you have?" He asks, reigniting our lost conversation.

"Six," I said, and I heard a gasp. I looked at him, shocked that this revelation would produce such a reaction, but he was looking somewhere else.
