Flashes. Her saddest parts of her life flashed pass her eye. Her father's ignorance, harsh words, her exile, and lastly the attack of the asurs.

The darkness surrounding her suffocated her. It was trying to swallow her whole. It was like she was in a vortex which was pulling her farther into the darkness.

She chanted to herself in her mind, 'Wake up! Wake up! WAKE UP!'

She shouted the last part as she was pulled near to the vortex.

Again a flash. This time she woke up.

She slowly opened her eyes but closed it immediately due to the bright light.

She opened her eyes again and squinted. She subconsciously observed her surrounding.

She laid on a small bed which was made of hay. The room which she was in was cozy. It had a bed, a side table where medicines, herbs and a knife were placed. The room had a window facing west.

Then it clicked to her that she was in an unfamiliar surrounding.

She immediately went on guard and got up immediately.

Bad move.

Her head hurted due to the sudden movement. She winced in pain as she held her head. Some sticky substance were applied to her head which she identified as some herbs.

Who had treated her? Where is she? Who was that man? Why did he save her?

All the thoughts that were swarming around her head hurted her head badly. She decided to ponder upon it afterwards. For now she need a weapon so that she will not be defenseless.

She checked her dress where she prayed she had another dagger somewhere but to her dismay there was not. And to her horror someone had changed her bloody clothes.

She then checked the surrounding for anything which can be possibly categorized as a weapon.

She thanked Mahadev that there was a knife on the table next to her.

Though not effective as her dagger, anything is better than nothing.

She slowly stood up, ignoring the pain in her body. She was heavily on guard and observed her surrounding carefully. All her sensed were on high alert, to know if something or someone are approaching the room.

She turned towards the window and saw the sunlight seeping through it. The window was placed facing west, so it the sun was going to set in an hour or so.

She thought, 'It was evening? So I was unconscious for more than 16 hours!?'

Suddenly her body stiff and the grip on her knife tightened.

Someone was approching the room.

As the door creaked open she threw the knife in her hand in a lightning speed towards the intruder.

She nearly blacked out due to the sudden movement. The speed at which she threw the knife would have lodged itself in his throat and killed him.

"For a person who had been on her death bed, surprisingly you have enough energy to throw a knife precisely." Came out a voice behind her.

She turned quickly and found a man standing there. An old man. He was twirling the knife which should have taken his life.

She quickly observed the old man. He was tall for his age. Taller than the men of Dwarpar Yug. His white hair and beard signified his old age. But she didn't know how old. His eyes held wisdom beyond her comprehension.
