Those bitter memories flashed passed Muruga's eyes. He couldn't forget the agony and pain he felt on that cursed day.
God, his sister's screams and sobs haunted his dreams for years. It's still haunting him now.
He prayed and hoped that his sister didn't experience any kind of pain atleast in this life.
But like always destiny was not in his favor.
Looking at his sister's state, his heart ached. He couldn't imagine what she was going through. His pain is nothing compared to hers.
Loosing a child is very hard. God, he couldn't imagine being on her place.
His sister's words seized his thought process. She sobbed, "What will I tell Adithya, Karthi? What will I tell him? I am a bad omen Karthi that's why everyone around me is suffering. I make everyone miserable. Mother, father, brother Ganesha and you. Adithya was happy before he met me. I always ruin everything good."
The same words. The same damn words!
He had to do something else the consequences will be dire for both the world and his sister.
He could feel the shift in the air. How did he not notice before? The air around them was crackling with unknown energy. He looked at his sister and he know the source of the energy.
Even as a mortal, Niyathi is a reincarnated goddess. Her powers are dormant inside her but it's still there waiting for a trigger to burst out. Here the trigger was the Asura attack followed by her nightmare.
And now, her suppressed power may burst out any moment, not only endangering herself but the world around her.
Her powers should not taken lightly. Being the Goddess of Fate she is the delicate thread between the three worlds.
Fate is powerful thing. Nobody could control it even Isha had a little control over it.
After she died as a Goddess, the outcome was nasty. All three world were affected by her death. Her powers didn't have a vessel and hence it burst forth creating a disaster.
Everyone felt the effect of her death. Everyone. Mortals, immortals, demigod, animals, every living being were affected. Everyone's fate spiraled out of control after Isha's death.
And everyone suffered.
This went for many years and every Devas assembled to find a solution this problem. And with lots of difficulty they suppressed Isha's power and made it dormant. Now that dormant power resides inside the demigod Niyathi.
And now, with Niyathi's unstable mind, her dormant powers would snap the delicate thread, collapsing the very foundation of the world. The intensity will be felt by the Devas and Asuras too.
Nobody will be spared. Everything will be destroyed. It will be worse than before. And Muruga couldn't let that happen.
He looked at his weeping sister and he knows what to do.
He hugged her closely and whispered to her sadly, "I am so sorry Isha. Please understand, that I had no choice but to do this."
His sister looked at him confused for a moment. He gulped down the sadness and guilt that threatened to consume him. He summoned all his leftover energy and started chanting a mantra under his breath.
"भवतः पूर्वजीवनस्य प्रत्येकं क्षणं, प्रत्येकं स्मृतिः, प्रत्येकं कुहूकुहू च विस्मरतु। भवतः वर्तमानजीवनं विना अन्यत् किमपि न स्मरिष्यसि। ॐ नमः शिवाय!"
(bhavatah purvajivanasya pratyekam kshanam, pratyekam smrutih, pratyekam kuhukuhu ch vismaratu. bhavatah vartamanjivanam vina anyat kimapi na smarishyasi. om namah shivaya)
(may you forget every moment, every memories and every whisper of your past life. You will remember nothing but your present life. Om namah shivaya!)His sister started screaming as he started chanting the mantra, "No! NO! Stop it! I said stop it!"
He didn't let that stop him and continued to chant it for another 6 times. Her screaming increased as he continued to chant, "It hurts Karthi! Please stop it! I can't take the pain! I will
die Karthi! Please stop!"She sobbed at the end unable to bear the pain. The God of War wanted nothing but to ease his sister's pain but he had no choice.
He had to do this.
He touched his sister's head when he started chanting for the last time. His sister's body convulsed and starting shaking badly. He held her tight and chanted for one last time.
As he completed chanting the mantra, the convulsions stopped and his sister was unconscious. He gently placed his sister on the floor and stood up.
He knew the deed was done. Niyathi wouldn't remember anything about her past life, atleast for the time being.
And the same time he felt the connection between him and the Devalok snap.
For a moment everything was normal. He knew it was too good to be true. And then he felt it.
He started feeling breathless, as if someone was squeezing his wind pipe. He was forced to knees as he couldn't bear the excruciating pain he was feeling.
His whole body felt like it was on fire. His whole body was burning and he screamed loudly clutching his head as he was not able to handle the pain. He felt like his insides are being torn apart.
Muruga desperately prayed to any God who is listening to make this pain fade. He hugged himself tightly and bit his lips harshly to suppress the screams.
And just like it came, it went after a few minutes. He slumped down to the ground and breathed heavily gulping as much as he could. His body could still feel the after effects of the pain but it was better.
The God of War hadn't experienced pain like this. He wished he wouldn't experience this kind of pain again. He breathed heavily and closed his eyes in resignation.
He knew why he experienced this pain. This was his first punishment as he broke the ancient law.
He had become a mortal.
The mighty son of Mahadev and Parvati , the God of War, the slayer of Tarakasura and countless asuras is now reduced to a mere mortal with no powers.
He slowly rose from the ground, his legs trembled as it tried to support him. His body screamed him to lay down but he need to call his Gurudeva. His sister was bleeding only he could heal her.
He vaguely heard the door opening and turned around to see the shocked and aghast face of his Gurudeva and Gurumata.
He whispered, "Gurudeva..."
And all went dark.
