Karthi gritted out, "Please avoid call me Karthi. That's only for my loved ones. Fortunately, you are not in that list anymore."
Hurt flashed Jayanta's eyes and it passed quickly as it came.
He looked at Karthi critically and said, "This is all because if her isn't it? That bitc-"
Karthi decked him hard in the face before he can finish the sentence.
'How dare he speak ill about my sister!?'
Karthi gritted out, "Don't. Call. My. Sister. That. You won't like the consequences Lord Jayanta."
Jayanta spitted out the blood and said, "What you are gonna kill me Karthi? You and I both know you can't do that."
Karthi replied murderously, "Well try me, Lord Jayanta. I think I am capable of killing a traitorous, lying, backstabbing bastard."
Jayanta tsked, "Such awful words for your best friend. Truly, you don't mean that."
Karthi looked at his former friend's eye and said, "It's the truth. There is no use in denying it."
Jayanta's jaw ticked and he said, "I didn't come here to argue with you about my life decisions. I came here to give you a choice."
Karthi furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, he murmured quitely, "A choice? For what?"
Lord Jayanta took a deep breath and said, "You can choose her. Then you are gonna fight me and reach your sister, risk violating the ancient rules of Swarga and get stripped of your God hood. Or..."
He trailed softly, looking at Karthi with raw vulnerability and hope, "You can choose me. You can come with me."
Karthi was surprised by Jayanta's tone. For a moment he was transported back to time where there were only the tow of them. Vivid images flashed pass his eyes. His training days, their adventures, the battle they fought together.
How far had they fallen?
From being the closest of the friends to mere strangers and enemies.
Karthi took time to observe his former friend. He looked the same except for the scar that ran down his shoulder to his arm. A courtesy by Adithya.
Except for that he looked the same. Tall, lithe, skin pale as snow. His amber eyes missed the warmth it once had. Instead it was replaced by coldness.
Where did they go wrong? Where did he go wrong? He tried desperately to steer him away from the wrong path. But he failed. Now look at them.
For a moment Karthi was tempted to choose him. His heart yearned for his friend. Not this new cheap version of him but the old one where they had each others back all the time despite the circumstances.
All the temptations vanished when he heard the next words from Jayanta, "You can join Daakshit's side. She doesn't deserve your love and affection, Karthi. It will be just like before. Us against the world. Think about it."
Karthi felt ashamed thinking about choosing him. This man in front of him had played a part in destroying his sister's and brother-in-law's life. And he succeeded in that. How could he even think of choosing him forgetting about their tears and sadness.
Karthi made up his mind and looked at Jayanta, his grip on his sword tightened that his knuckles turned white.
That action didn't go unnoticed bu Jayanta, he whispered, "Karthi..?"
Karthi looked at him with coldness that make Jayanta flinch slightly, "Lord Karthikeya. You will address me with my title, Lord Jayanta. Remember your place."
A choice was made. Two former friends at the other side of the war.
Jayanta looked at him for a few seconds and chucked painfully, "It's her isn't it? It's always gonna be her."
Karthi nodded curtly and said,"I will always choose my sister, Lord Jayanta. Surely you would have known that."
Jayanta looked at him hurt and murmured more to himself, "Here I thought you will choose me but you chose her? Such a fool I am."
Jayanta went back to his blank state, and said to him, "Fight me then. What weapon will it be?"
In reply Karthi unsheathed his sword and pointed at him. Jayanta chucked as he unsheathed his own sword discarding his bow, "A classic battle? Let's have it, Lord Karthikeya. "
Who will win this battle?
Lord Jayanta whose heart is filled with hatred and Vengeance against Isha or Lord Karthikeya who has love and fierce determination to protect his sister?
Hatred vs Love.
Vengeance vs Devotion.
Who will emerge victorious?
It will be a dance of two celestial beings and the whole universe waits with bated breath for the outcome.
