Mind is a maze and the God of War knew it for a long time. You should be skilled enough to come out of it unscathed or you will lost forever in it.
Now, Karthikeya is stuck in that maze. The sudden loss of his God hood affected his body and mind severely.
His body turned into a mortal one, which affected his healing abilities.
His mind and soul are still struggling to accept the sudden change. His own soul is fighting against his physical form which is not good.
There are only a few things a mortal brain can handle. And Karthikeya's mind had thousand years of knowledge, things and stuff that a normal human brain couldn't handle.
Now, Karthikeya is stuck in a nearly impenetrable maze which is his mind. Then he can think over what to do for his messed up body and mind.
It was dark in there. Every nook and corner was covered with darkness. It was maddening.
He couldn't see anything, he couldn't feel anything near him and it scared him.
His heart raced with anxiety and panic. He didn't have any strength left in him to move forward. He just wanted to rest.
Just as he was going to succumb to darkness, he heard a faint voice which was awfully familiar.
He struggled to pick up the voice and then he heard it.
'Saravana.'
His heart froze hearing the familiar voice. This particular name was only used by one person who is very dear to him.
It was neither Isha nor Parvati. But nonetheless dearer to him.
The voice grew louder and clearer.
'Saravana! Please! Stand up.'
She cried out loudly.
He tried to locate her voice but he couldn't see anything. He desperately wanted to see her face or atleast feel her presence. His body was failing him.
'Please Saravana! You can't give up now! Think of us, we are waiting for you at home! Please don't give up on us!'
She begged him to get up.
The God of War couldn't handle his beloved begging him. She should never beg him for anything. If she wanted him to get up and get out of this bloody maze, that's what he will exactly do.
With renewed purpose and determination, Muruga got up and searched for a way.
He relied on his senses and tried to locate the exit of the maze. With his beloved guiding him, he navigated the tricky maze and ended finding the exit.
But he didn't want to go, he wanted to hear her voice again. Sensing his hesitation she whispered softly to him.
'This is not a Goodbye Saravana. Goodbyes are only for those who love with their eyes not for the ones who love with their heart and soul. I know you will come back to me. And I will wait for that day. Don't make me wait too long.'
He could sense the pain in her voice. He didn't know, his decisions will cause her pain. No use in crying over spilled milk. The deed was done and now he is awaiting his punishment.
He knew loosing his powers and becoming a mortal is just the beginning of his punishment. There is still a long way to go.
He just hopes his punishment doesn't affect his beloved. But deep down he knew they both will be shattered after he receives his punishment.
He promised to himself and her that he will return to her and nothing in the world would stop him.
He whispered softly, 'I will come back soon, my huntress.'
Then he opened the door and all went white.
After a few minutes...
Karthikeya opened his slowly and let his eyes adjust to his surroundings. He let his eyes wander and found a familiar figure sitting next to him.
His Gurudeva was staring into nothing and seemed to be in deep thought. He shuffled a bit which seemed to broke his trance.
As soon as he saw him he rushed to help him sit and gave him some water.
Guru Vashishta gave him some time to regain his senses and after he completed drinking water. He started bombarding him with questions.
"What were you thinking Karthi? Do you have any idea what have you done? How this affect you and everyone around you? Have you lost your bloody mind!?"
Muruga didn't give an answer to any of his questions. He sat there and looked at him without an ounce of emotion in his eyes.
Seeing him not giving any replies, it frustrated Guru Vashishta even more and he lashed out at him, "Answer me, Karthi! Open your bloody mouth!"
Karthi clenched his jaw tightly trying to control his bubbling anger but the onslaught of questions from his Gurudeva made him snap.
"Fine you want answers, I will give you one. The only thing I had on my mind in that moment was to help my sister and I just did that. I didn't care about the consequences then and I don't care about it now."
There was a pregnant pause, no one spoke anything for some time. Then the God of War murmured, "She is the other half of my soul and they took her away from me. I will be damned if I let my sister be harmed again. "
Guru Vashishta sighed slowly and he could empathize with Karthi. If he was in his shoes he would have done the same.
Guru Vashishta said to him, "I just hope you don't regret what you did Karthi."
Muruga replied curtly, "No I don't have any regrets Gurudeva."
Lies.
He has plenty of regrets but he won't reveal it to his Gurudeva. He didn't want to burden him more with his problems. He has already helped him a lot.
Muruga sighed heavily and asked his Gurudeva, "What is my punishment?"
Gurudeva blinked momentarily taken aback by the question. Muruga chuckled bitterly and said to him, "I know stripping me of my God hood is only the beginning. There is still more to go. So Gurudeva did anyone come to say the verdict?"
Before Guru Vashishta could speak, a voice interrupted them.
"Narayana! Narayana!"
Muruga smiled bitterly and just hoped his actions didn't affect his family.
