As we get closer and closer to the end of the 2019 season and the crowning of the World Champion, a question has been weighing on my mind. Can Noura Denoire really win the world championship in her rookie season?
There is only one real answer to that question. Yes, she can.
Her win in Brazil yesterday returned Denoire to her P2 standing, which she held before her crash in Mexico. She is just barely in P2, with Bottas close behind her, but she is not the only one checking over their shoulder. If Denoire manages another win in Abu Dhabi, the last race of the season, she will rip the championship out from right under Lewis Hamilton's feet.
It is almost an unsaid rule, that rookies don't win championships, but Denoire has become known for shattering every rule she seems to come across.
The real challenge will be winning. There is not one, but two Mercedes gunning for the top spot on the podium, and a seemingly out of nowhere rivalry with a one Charles Leclerc. Brazil was a dirty race between the two, Denoire driving with a rage we have rarely seen from her.
I do think that if she can bring that rage to Abu Dhabi, she might just win the whole damn thing.
