It was as if a part of her went out with her lights. It felt like her mother took the remaining semblance of peace, Luz was so desperately clinging to, and literally crushed it with her hand.

Her condition, as her mother called it, got better almost immediately after her mother left, when Luz got out of her blankets and looked in the mirror again, she saw that now she looked as normal as ever, no overly pale skin, no bloodshot eyes, maybe there was hope.

She came back, hours later, probably as soon as her work ended and her happiness to see Luz was clearly visible, but Luz..did not feel the same way, "Luz!!", her mother exclaimed, as she went for a hug, which Luz accepted but did not fully return.

"You are doing so much better now, I am so glad.", she said, putting a hand on Luz's cheek, "Hm, aaa can I have my papers back?", asked Luz.

"Why?" asked her mother with a frown.

"I want to do more magic, I learned to do a lot of cool stuff with it, while I was.."

"Luz?!", said her mother, eyebrows raised, wearing what looked like.. disbelief, "Why would you ever want to do magic again??", she asked, "You saw what it did to you, did you not??", she continued gently, as if her daughter was just being silly for asking.

"Now come on, doctors want to see you.", she said to the stunned Luz.

It took no time at all for all the check ups and examinations to be over, Luz now sat in the front seat of her mom's car, they were going home.

The drive itself was tense, her mother seemed happy, joyful, but Luz did not share her sentiments, she just felt scared, her mom did not like magic, at all, what would that mean for Luz.

In what felt like no time at all, they arrived at the forefront of the Noceda family home and Luz could see herself in its doors, well not herself, but she saw someone who looked just like her.

She let out a happy sigh, with all that happened today she almost forgot about her new sister, stepsister, demon-sister, Luz was not sure how exactly she fit into the family, but she was sure a part of it.

It made her feel much better, if her mom could accept her into the family, knowing she was not a human at all, she could not have been that much against magic, right..

Maybe it was just an overreaction on her moms part, she did look pretty scary or sick, in that mirror, any mother would be scared.

'I just need to talk to her about it,' Luz resolved herself, 'I will go to my room, then when I come down for dinner I will talk to mom about it.'

They arrived and were getting out of the car, "Luz this is Vee," said Camila, suddenly sounding a little unsure, as Luz approached the other girl she saw that Vee was fidgeting.

'She is probably nervous about meeting me for real.', she thought with a smile, 'We had our adventure, we already know each-other, there is no need for her to be nervous.'

They now stood only several inches apart from each other, two same faces looking into the same eyes, "Are you repulsed??!!" shrieked the girl anxiously, "Its weird that I look like this right, I will change into someone else..", started Vee.

"Are you sure we are not real sisters??", asked Luz in response, with a hand on her eye pretending to wear a monocle, like a detective, or a microscope for examining, "You look a liiiiittle bit like me..", she continued before hugging the nervous girl.

"I.. I.. I", stammered Vee, surprised by the sudden display affection, "Moooom, are you hugging Vee enough??", asked Luz, turning them both around to look at her mom.
