-the song was actually inspired by real life experiences as at the time mei's best friend had turned on her

-her uncle was the one who helped her produce this song and saw a lot of potential in mei, without him, these songs would have never seen the light of day

-the outsider blew up mostly in asia and europe and although it didn't gain any achievements, it became a really popular song

-at this time, no one actually knew what mei looked like as her entire face was covered in the lyric video

-the lyric video includes clips of mei with the camera on her face as she takes pictures and videos of others which she is never in, hence showing that, in reality, she is the outsider

-mei performed this song again when she went to korea and in 2019, it actually won on music bank which shocked mei and netizens

-the negative response the song received was mostly from mei's classmates who began to bully her after it was released
