Chapter 10- an unexpected encounter and a duel

After some time, the higher ups noticed my potential and abilities, which are far greater than normal Academy's student's. I didn't want to stand out too much, but I was still considered a genius.

I've seen Sasuke looking at me with jealousy, but also with amazement. I thought that he wanted to come up to me a couple of times but eventually gave up. He was always blushing and stuttering around me.

Little Sasuke is so cute!- I thought.

I was given a chance to graduate early, but I declined. I supported my statement by saying I wanted to stay with Naruto.

Talking about Naruto, me and him got really close. We often hang out at his apartment to play cards or to eat instant ramen together. But I've brought him to my place a couple of times, too. He absolutely loves it.

Right now I'm at the training grounds practicing jutsus. I left a shadow clone at the Academy. I remember Itachi telling me he used to do the same.

I stood at the edge of a lake.
I did the right handsigns and shouted:
-Katon: Goukakyuu no Jutsu!
I blew a giant fireball which covered a big part of the water. After the fire dissapeared, all I could see was smoke.

-Geez... I think I overdid it a bit- I scratched the back of my neck.

-Well, well. That was at least a chunnin level jutsu.

I widened my eyes. What the hell is Danzo doing here!?

I turned my head around to look at him.

-Danzo-sama.

I did a quick bow to fake my respect for him. Because there was none.

I have met Danzo during my arrival to Konoha. I could tell he was suspicious of me, afterall it's not everyday a kid from outside of the village asks for residence with Kage almost immiediately agreeing to it.

Danzo made a sign with his hand asking me to straighten up.
I looked back at him with an indifferent gaze.

-Shouldn't you be in the Academy right now?

-We ended class early- I lied.

Danzo squinted his eyes.

Geez, why did I choose to train here?- I thought-Just my luck.

-Why don't you want to graduate early, child?-he asked with a hoarse voice.

-I have friends here. I don't want to leave them- I quickly replied.

-Those friends of yours will only slow you down. A potential like yours is rare these days.

I listened in silence but internally, I wanted to punch him in the face.

-You could already become chunnin- he continued- I'm sure not short after, jounin.
Then you could join anbu. Specifically my anbu.

And have a seal on my tongue? No way!
-Why would I?

-Did you really think the Hokage let you in the village just like that?

I furrowed my brows.

-He will want you to serve Konoha, seeing your potential, as quickly as he can put you in anbu.
He's a selfish man.

Heh. Not gonna lie, you almost got me. But I won't let you manipulate me, Danzo.

-The Hokage gave me free will. I will be able to graduate at the same time as everyone from my class- I retorted.

-It's no use believing in that. Besides, what good will it make? Don't you want to move on and become a more powerful ninja?

I bit my lip in a habit of being put under pressure.
