"The statues are advancing along all corridors. And, sir, my torch keeps flickering." A soldier informs Father Octavian who just sighs looking around the cavern brows furrowed,
"They all do."
"So does the gravity globe." River adds gesturing to where the gravity globe is floating above the group she looks around trying to catch sight of the Doctor and Athena.
"Clerics, we're down to four men. Expect incoming." Father Octavian tells the other soldiers, and they spread out covering all exits nodding to the Doctor and Athena as they walk up to the rest of the group.
"Yeah, it's the Angels. They're coming. And they're draining the power for themselves." The Doctor bites out pulling Athena behind him, his hand clasped tightly around hers. The cavern top was the bottom of the ship, Athena looked up at the ship and let out a whistle.
"Which means we won't be able to see them." Octavian looks down at his communicator pushing a few buttons before looking back up at the Doctor.
"Which means we can't stay here." the Doctor adds as he releases Athena's hand. She frowns at the absence of warmth before shaking her head and walking over to Amy and River. Amy looks at her with concern, Athena shakes her head at her before wrapping her arms around herself. River wraps an arm around Athena's shoulder, Athena looks at her with a wan smile. The Doctor looks at her in the corner of his eye frowning at how sickly Athena is starting to look.
"Two more incoming," Octavian informed the group.
"Any suggestions?" River looked between everyone, the Doctor looked lost in thought and paced around the room.
"The statues are advancing on all sides. We don't have the climbing equipment to reach the Byzantium." Octavian frowned
"There's no way up, no way back, no way out. No pressure, but this is usually when you have a really good idea." River looks to the Doctor who is still pacing, Athena steps away from River catching the Doctor's hand he looks at her. He studies her face which holds a reassuring smile, he shakes his head before answering River.
"There's always a way out." An echo sounded through the cave. Athena waited for it to stop before looking at the Doctor with a pointed look, eyes slipping to honey.
"Doctor? Can I speak to the Doctor, please?" Angel Bob's voice sounded.
"Hello, Angels. What's your problem?" The Doctor smiles with a grimace.
"Your power will not last much longer, and the Angels will be with you shortly. Sorry, sir."
"Why are you telling me this?" The Doctor furrows his brows, still looking into Athena's Honey eyes.
"There's something the Angels are very keen you should know before the end."
"Which is?" The Doctor cocks his head.
"I died in fear."
"I'm sorry?" he looks taken aback, eyes still not breaking contact with Athena's. Her brows knitted together, hand starting to tremble in the Doctor's grasp.
"Athena told me my fear would keep me alive, but I died afraid, in pain, and alone. she made me trust you, and when it mattered, you both let me down." Athena slips into her glowing form, hair flowing in a phantom wind with gold and eyes alit like a flashlight shining through honey. The Doctor stiffens his eyes darkening, the Oncoming Storm surfacing. Amy looks at the two, she is shocked at how angry they look both looking like lonely gods. Never looking away from each other they stand gripping the communicator together.
"What are they doing?" she whispers to River.
"They're trying to make them angry," River answered she has seen them both get like this at the same time. It never ends well for the ones who make them angry.
