"Athena?" The Doctor jumped down the last few stairs he was bounding down in the console room. He looked around furrowing his brows, turning to leave just as he heard a sneeze. He walked down looking under the glass platform to see Athena with his goggles on and her headphones on. She had his sonic between her teeth as she used hers to fuse some wires. He walked down to her level before leaning against a pillar watching her work with a smile on his face.

She dropped his Sonic in her hand, clutching both in one hand. She grabbed some tubing before blowing on it. Gold particles floated from her mouth into the tubing. The Tardis hummed and brightened, Athena looked up with a grin, and she looked back down catching the Doctor's eyes.

"I was just giving her a boost." She pulled her headphones out of her ears, "Sorry I snagged your Sonic when you were reading. It's easier to do some of this with two. I don't know how you've done it with only one."

"That's fine. I wasn't using it anyway" The Doctor chuckled, "I came looking for you to see if you wanted to go exploring"

"Of course!"

There were many adventures that the Doctor and Athena went on together. They were incarcerated without trial in the Tower of London, appearing in films and just being all-around nuisances to let Amy and Rory know they were thinking of them. That was until one day, when they were being normal humans and walking in a park that someone slipped two blue envelopes into her shopping bag.

She knew what it meant but Her Doctor did not. She showed it to him before they bounded into the tardis and landed at their destination. Athena's envelope had slightly different instructions but with a lot of persuasion, the Doctor listened to her and dropped her off when and where she was needed. She kissed the Doctor before watching the Tardis go to The Doctor's coordinates. She sighed, rubbing her face not prepared to see the dead body of her cord. She set off walking towards the lake.

-

When she crested the hill, she saw Rory and River push off the boat that the Doctor lay in. River turned on her heel and walked towards a man in his eighties.

"Who are you? Why did you come?" She demanded

"The same reason as you." He holds out his blue invitation, "Doctor Song, Amy, Rory. I'm Canton Everett Delaware the third. I won't be seeing you again, but you'll be seeing me."

As Canton Delaware leaves, their attention is drawn to Athena, who stares stone-faced at the burning boat.

"Athena!" River and Amy ran to her, River took the ginger into her arms, " I am so sorry, we-"

"I know," Athena said, pulling away.

"Why weren't you with him?" Amy demanded anger seeping from her, "If you were here-"

"I can't stop everything" Athena flicked her hand with an air of nonchalance that she didn't mean to portray. This raised Rivers hackles,

"Your cord is dead," River snapped.

"I know that River, what should I do? Hmm?" Then, when no one responded, Athena continued, "I cannot be everywhere at once. I have an envelope, just the same as you. Why don't we focus on that?"

River looked down at the envelope that Canton had handed her, "Five."

"Sorry, what?" Rory, who was staring at Athena, broke his gaze to look at River. She looked down at Athena's then pulled her own out, "The Doctor numbered the envelopes."

-

"You got four, I was 3, Mister Delaware was 5, and Athena was 2." River pulled out her envelope once they all sat at a booth in a small diner. Amy and Rory pulled out theirs laying it on the table.
