I saw a few posts about book rebinding on Pinterest. Growing up I've always bought my books to keep and while I'm not usually a meticulous person my books always had to be perfect. As I've gotten older I've bought more books used and damaged in favor of my finances. After watching a few rebinding videos I turned to a very old torn up copy of the hobbit from my grandfather's collection. The edges were yellow, and the cover was held together by only a few pieces so I decided it was a perfect first victim. This took longer than I wanted it to and I'm still not finished but I'm proud of this project. Strange how this book keeps coming to me as inspiration for trying new things.
The cover is paperboard held together with a scrap pair of jean fabric and leftover oil paints, I would have used my pencils but in all my tests nothing showed up on the black background as well as the paint did. I also added a ribbon bookmarker because I love when books have them.
