cw mini history lesson
SO if y'all couldn't tell I have this weird obsession with greek myth and modernizing it (especially medea but i somehow haven't gotten around to posting any of my drawings of her) and i was rereading some tales i like and one of them is abt king midas
if you're not familiar with the myth basically this guy named king midas wished for the "gift" of everything he touches turning to gold in reward for helping dionysus find his friend. obviously the gift is more of a curse, as at first everything seems fine, before he tries to eat breakfast and realizes he can't. also he hugs his daughter and she turns into gold lmao
while the story does have a happy ending, i do really love tales that showcase the greed of humanity and i think in many ways this myth does. so this drawing is inspired by the touch of king midas
PS ive been doing a lot of traditional art recently (usually i do digital art while half-watching a yt video but ive been watching bojack horseman and i can't rlly split screen that so traditional art it is lmao) so there's gonna be a lot of that
