After the discussion both comes with the conclusion of doing Putrakameshti Yagna. But now another question rises in the mind of King Dashrath that who will do the Yagna. Maharishi Vasisth suggested him the name of Rishi Shringa as he was one of the expert of Yajurveda which consisted the guidelines of doing the Yagna.

After it, King Dashrath told his queens about the Yagna and there happiness knew no bound.

Everyone were excited for the huge day and the preparations and decorations were started in the kingdom of Ayodhya.

On the day of Putrakameshti Yagna, there was the arrival of Rishi Shringa which is considered to be auspicious for any region. It is even said that once due to his arrival, the rainfall had taken place in a kingdom which was facing drought since a long time.

After the welcoming session of Rishi Shringa by all the three queens and the King with Maharishi Vasisth, the yagna was started finally.

Rishi Shringa said, "Main aapake laabh keliye atharvaved kee prastaavana mein varnit anushthaan ko putra kameshti naamak vidhivat mantron ke saath sampann karoonga, arthaat vah anushthaan jo putra pradaan karata hai."

The king and his queens bowed him by joining the hands.

Ascetics chanting hymns created an atmosphere of anticipation for the king, Dasharatha, and queens.

On the fourth day of the yagna, a deity Agni emerged in a personified form, smiling upon the royal assembly and offering a bowl of holy payasam wrapped in banana leaves. He declared that consuming this herbal preparation would result in the queens' pregnancies, heralding the imminent arrival of children in the royal palace. After saying this he disappeared in the air of Ayodhya.

King Dashrath's happiness knew no bounds. Rishi Shringa instructed him and according to his instruction King Dashrath distributed the payasam among his queens. The dividation of Payasam was done according to the rules mentioned in the Atharva veda.

Queen Kaushalya received the half of the Payasam. Now half payasam was remained. So it was again divided among the Queen Kaikeyi and Queen Sumitra. It's said that Queen Sumitra drank the Payasam in two parts.

After few days, as per said by the deity, the three queens became pregnant.
