The cold water hugged me while sending a weird sensation through my body. I was unable to move because of the cold wet substance surrounding me. It was almost as if my muscles were frozen. Like they were completely stiff. No matter how hard I tried, I was not able to move a muscle. however, I was able to see the shore. It gave me courage as I saw how close it was. It wasn't far away from me, but I still wasn't able to reach it. As I tried to get to the shore a dark shim approached me. He ran toward me faster and faster as I tried harder to move my body. I needed to make it to the shore so I could run away from him.
As soon as the shim got closer I was able to see his dark eyes. It was the driver from before. Short images of what happened occupied my mind. The way the car hit the water, how I tried to get out of the car when I was almost drowning, and how I was stabbed. A shock came over my body as I sat up straight. It was almost as if I was still lying in that river. I wasn't able to breathe for a short period. I tried to take deep breaths as I looked around. I wasn't able to process what was happening, I didn't know where I was.
The driver approached me and I started hitting him as hard as I could, but it was as if it didn't affect him. The look on his face was still cold as he looked down at me. It didn't matter how hard I hit him he just kept the same look on his face. "Stop!! STOP!" I screamed as I continued to hit him. "Mae, it's me, stop." The driver's voice sounded different from before. It was weird hearing a different voice. It made me stop hitting him. His gaze turned concerned as he looked down at me. This was the first time I was able to see emotion on his face. Somehow it made me feel even less at ease as I punched him again. "No, leave me alone!" I screamed again as I pushed him away. "Mea please." He said.
I looked at the driver's face again as it slowly turned into Sunoo's. He looked down at me, confused and concerned, as he and Jungwon tried to hold down my arms. I took a quick look around the room as I realised where I was. There was no water surrounding me. It had completely vanished. I wasn't lying in the lake, and the driver was nowhere to be seen. We were at Jay's house. The walls were huge and were covered by windows, which looked upon a huge forest. I tried to focus on my breathing as I continued to look around. It was almost as if I wasn't really here. As if it wasn't real. Maybe I was still dreaming. Sunoo slowly loosened his grip on my arms as he looked at me with compassion. I hated it when he did that. It made me feel weak.
"Wait- how-?" I felt Jungwon's grip loosen as well and I slowly pulled my arm out of his grip. I wiped my hair out of my face as I looked down at the bed I was in. I realised I was sitting in a hospital bed. Of course, why else would I be at Jay's house? Was what happened real? Did I almost drown earlier today? "Are you okay?" Sunoo asked as he sat down on the bed next to me. He looked at me with the same concern he did before. "not really." I answered him honestly. I was still not sure what was going on. Sunoo pulled me in for a hug and I couldn't help but cry. I was feeling so many emotions at the same time. I felt like I was powerless because I wasn't able to separate my imagination from what was real. The situation I was in right now, felt just as real as the images I got of me lying in the lake seconds ago. Sunoo hugged me tightly as he tried to comfort me. I continued to cry as he hugged me tight.
It felt like the old days. When we were little, Whenever I felt sad or emotional, Sunoo comforted me. He used to make funny jokes and try to make me laugh. usually, it would help, but if I was feeling a bit extra sad, and didn't seem to be able to stop crying. He'd hug me tight. He'd even hum songs which would calm me down.
"Finally, you're awake." Sunghoon walked in and both Sunoo and jungwon stood up immediately. "Jungwon weren't we supposed to do that thing..." Sunoo asked and Jungwon nodded while clenching his jaw. I could tell he didn't want to leave the room. Sunghoon didn't even look at the both of them as he walked straight toward me. "Wait, Sunoo," I said as I grabbed his arm. I didn't want him to leave, not again. I wasn't able to look at Jungwon or Sunghoon as I felt ashamed about what had happened.
