As the morning sun cast a golden glow through the curtains, Ashlyn stirred from her slumber. Greeted by the soft chirping of birds outside her window, she stretched and gave out a yawn. Rolling over, she checked the time on her clock radio seated on her nightstand.

Ashlyn walked out of the bathroom and changed into a casual wear. After, she went to the nightstand and took her phone.

Descending the stairs, Ashlyn was on her phone. She was replying a text from her one and only bestie, Jeanna.

Alisha was setting the table for breakfast when she saw Ashlyn descending the stairs with her eyes glued to her phone

Alisha was setting the table for breakfast when she saw Ashlyn descending the stairs with her eyes glued to her phone. "Good morning, sweetie!" Alisha cleared her throat.

Ashlyn raised her head up and upon sighting her mom, she quickly went to embrace her. "Good morning, Mama!"

Releasing herself from the hug, Ashlyn sniffed the air. "Mm! Wow, I bet today's breakfast is as special as the one who made it." Ashlyn smiled.

"Aw, my sweetheart is making me blush." Alisha and Ashlyn burst into laughter.

Ashlyn settled into her seat at the dining table, a grateful smile spreading across her face as Alisha placed a stack of fluffy pancakes in front of her.

"Thanks, Mama. These look amazing." Ashlyn said, her voice filled with genuine appreciation.

Alisha returned her daughter's smile. "You're welcome, sweetie. Dig in," she replied taking a seat across from Ashlyn and pouring herself a cup of coffee.

After breakfast, mother and daughter cleared the dishes and washed them nicely.

As they finished their morning routine,  the sound of the doorbell rang. Ashlyn exchanged a curious glance with her mother as they made their way to the front door.

Opening it, they were greeted by a warm smile from a woman standing on the doorstep. "Good morning! I hope I'm not interrupting anything?" Her voice, cheerful and bright.
