The mansion was shrouded in darkness as I made my way through its labyrinthine corridors, the only sound the soft echo of my footsteps against the cold marble floor. Malachi had been distant lately, disappearing for hours on end without explanation, leaving me alone in our bed to wrestle with my thoughts and fears.

Unable to bear the silence any longer, I found myself drawn to his office, a place that had become a sanctuary of sorts – a refuge where he would spend countless hours lost in thought or lost in the depths of his work.

As I approached the door, the sound of voices drifted through the air, their tones low and muffled. My heart quickened with anticipation as I pressed my ear against the door, straining to catch every word.

And then, I heard it – Malachi's voice, tinged with a note of disdain and disgust, speaking words that cut through me like a knife.

"Elara is nothing but a burden," he said, his tone dripping with contempt. "A pathetic mortal clinging to me like a lost puppy, incapable of even the simplest tasks. I don't know why I bothered to bring her here – she's more trouble than she's worth."

My breath caught in my throat as the weight of his words settled over me like a heavy stone. Was this how he truly felt about me? Had I been nothing more than a pawn in his game, a means to an end?

Tears stung at my eyes as I struggled to comprehend the magnitude of his betrayal. How could he speak of me in such a callous manner, as though I were nothing more than a nuisance to be discarded at his whim?

But even as my heart shattered into a million pieces, a flicker of anger ignited within me – a fierce determination to confront him and demand answers.

With trembling hands, I pushed open the door to his office, the room bathed in the soft glow of lamplight. And there he sat, his back turned to me, his expression unreadable as he poured over a stack of papers.

"Malachi," I began, my voice trembling with emotion. "How could you?"

He turned to look at me, surprise flickering in his eyes before being replaced by a mask of indifference. "Elara," he replied, his voice cold and detached. "What are you doing here?"

My heart clenched at the sight of him – the man I had loved and trusted, now a stranger before me. "I heard what you said," I whispered, the words catching in my throat. "How could you talk about me like that? How could you treat me with such cruelty?"

Malachi's gaze hardened, his lips curling into a sneer. "You were eavesdropping, then," he replied, his tone laced with disdain. "Typical of you, always sticking your nose where it doesn't belong."

I recoiled at his words, the sting of his contempt burning like a brand against my skin. "I trusted you, Malachi," I whispered, tears streaming down my cheeks. "I thought... I thought we had something real."

But he just shook his head, a cold smile playing at the corners of his lips. "You were mistaken, Elara," he replied, his voice dripping with malice. "There was never anything between us – just a game that you were foolish enough to play."

And with those final words, he turned away from me, dismissing me with a wave of his hand as though I were nothing more than an inconvenience to be dealt with. And as I stumbled out of his office, my heart shattered into a million irreparable pieces, the realization dawning on me that I had been a fool to ever trust in the promises of a demon.

The weight of betrayal bore down on me like a crushing weight as I stormed into our bedroom, my hands trembling with rage as I began to pack my bags. Clothing flew into the suitcase in a frenzy, the fabric whispering accusations as it was tossed aside.

Malachi's footsteps echoed behind me, his presence filling the room with an oppressive tension. "Elara, what are you doing?" he demanded, his voice tinged with confusion.

I whirled around to face him, my eyes blazing with anger as I held his gaze. "I'm leaving," I spat, my voice dripping with venom. "I'm done with this place, and I'm done with you."

Malachi's expression hardened, his eyes narrowing with irritation. "You can't just leave, Elara," he replied, his voice cold and dismissive. "You made a deal, remember? You're bound to me now – body and soul."

But I refused to back down, my resolve steeling in the face of his arrogance. "I don't care about your stupid deal," I snapped, my voice rising with each word. "I want out, Malachi. I want to go back to Earth – back to where I belong."

A flicker of amusement danced in Malachi's eyes as he watched me, his lips curling into a mocking smile. "And what makes you think I'll let you leave?" he taunted, his voice dripping with malice. "You're mine now, Elara – whether you like it or not."

I felt something inside me snap at his words, a primal rage boiling up from the depths of my soul. With a cry of fury, I launched myself at him, my fists raining down on his chest as I screamed obscenities and curses.

Malachi staggered back, caught off guard by the ferocity of my assault. "Elara, stop!" he shouted, his voice filled with alarm.

But I paid no heed to his pleas, my anger driving me forward with a reckless abandon. I grabbed whatever I could find – books, trinkets, anything – and hurled them at him with all the force I could muster.

"Take me back, Malachi!" I screamed, tears streaming down my face as I unleashed my pent-up fury. "Take me back to Earth, or so help me, I'll tear this place apart brick by brick!"

Malachi's expression darkened with anger as he watched me, his patience wearing thin with each passing moment. "You're making a mistake, Elara," he warned, his voice low and dangerous. "You'll regret this."

But I refused to be intimidated by his threats, my resolve unyielding in the face of his tyranny. With one final scream of defiance, I turned and fled from the room, leaving Malachi behind in a storm of shattered dreams and broken promises.

As I stormed through the mansion's corridors, my heart pounded with a mixture of fear and determination. Every step I took echoed with the resounding declaration of my newfound freedom, a freedom I was determined to reclaim at any cost.

But as I reached the grand foyer, my path was blocked by Malachi, his expression a mask of cold fury as he stood before me, blocking my way with an air of ominous finality.

"Where do you think you're going, Elara?" he demanded, his voice low and dangerous.

I met his gaze with defiance, refusing to cower in the face of his intimidation. "I'm leaving," I replied, my voice steady despite the tremor of uncertainty that lingered within me. "I won't stay here a moment longer."

Malachi's eyes flashed with anger, his fists clenching at his sides as he took a menacing step forward. "You can't leave, Elara," he growled, his voice tinged with menace. "You belong to me – body and soul."

But I refused to be swayed by his empty threats, my determination unyielding in the face of his tyranny. "I belong to no one," I declared, my voice ringing out with a fierce defiance that sent shivers down my spine. "I am my own person, and I refuse to be bound by your twisted desires any longer."

With those final words, I pushed past him, my heart pounding in my chest as I fled from the mansion and into the unknown. And as I disappeared into the darkness of the night, a sense of liberation washed over me like a cleansing tide, carrying me away from the shadows of Malachi's domain and toward a future filled with endless possibilities.
