Wen pecks your forehead and stares at you with teary eyes. A smile that was so painful to watch as he abandoned your face and walked out of the dressing room. You were crying since this marked the end of the beautiful relationship you had with the only person who never judged you nor asked you to change, but accepted you and cherished you the way you were born. You realised that with Wen gone from your life the last bit of your true self has also vanished in the brink of the seconds you were now lost in your own body. The happy and carefree Y/N rested in peace in the depths of your heart.
You take a deep breath as you watch yourself through the gigantic mirror, "I look so pale, it's my wedding day. I can't afford to be nervous at this point. Oh lord, help me calm down."
You stood in front of the mirror hanging your head low, the weight of your situation pressing down on you more heavily than the ornate wedding gown you wore. The reflection staring back at you was almost unrecognisable; you looked every bit the bride, but inside, you felt like a prisoner. Your father's promise to his dear friend had led to this moment, a union you neither wanted nor could fully comprehend.
A soft knock on the door broke your thoughts. "Y/n, it's time," your mother said gently, her voice tinged with a mix of sadness and resignation.
You took a deep breath, forcing herself to move. You walked down the hallway to where your father was waiting to escort you to the ceremony. He gave you a reassuring smile, but it did little to ease your turmoil. As you approached the altar, you saw Taehyung standing there, his expression just as conflicted as yours. This was a man you barely knew, thrust into your life by circumstances beyond your control. Your eyes met briefly, and you saw the same reluctance reflected in his sharp siren gaze. The ceremony was a blur. Vows were exchanged, rings were placed, and before you knew it, you both were pronounced husband and wife. The weight of the commitment settled on your shoulders, heavier than you had anticipated.
"Congratulations to both of you." The kind priest said while giving you both his blessings.
"Thank you father." You replied with a bow while Taehyung just rolled his eyes and ignored the kindness.
After the ceremony, you both were whisked away to the reception. As you walked side by side Taehyung you noticed your husband was walking faster than you as if he was trying to get rid of you. You observe his actions quietly as you follow his lead. After a while he was on a call while you were seated on the chair waiting for him to feed you your first bite to start the buffet. Sadly, he was too busy attending the call when you turned around to check on him he vanished from your sight and you clenched your fist. You found yourself surrounded by well-wishers, their smiles and congratulations feeling like salt in a wound. You began to arrange your food and by then he was back. Taehyung was by your side now, but his mysterious demeanour, polite but distant, overwhelmed you and you sigh as you eat a bite of macaron, your most favourite dish.
As you sat at the head table, Taehyung leaned over and whispered, "I know you are disappointed I didn't want this either."
You looked at him, surprised by his candour. "Let's just get through this," you replied, your voice steady despite the turmoil inside you.
