PAKIRAMDAM NI Beverly ay huminto ang buong mundo niya. Ligaw? Manliligaw siya? Wait, what??

Her papa was the one who broke the silence by clearing his throat. "Sino ka nga ulit?" anito sa nakakatakot na boses.

Seryoso naman ang mukha ni Pres habang hindi inaalis ang tingin sa mga magulang niya. "I'm Anthony Dela Paz, Sir. I'm a classmate of your daughter."

Pinagkrus naman ng ama niya ang mga braso sa ibabaw ng dibdib nito. "At gaano mo na katagal kilala si Beverly?"

"Almost two years, Sir."

"Bilang classmate?"

"Yes, Sir."

Nakita naman ni Beverly ang simpleng paghaplos ng ina niya sa kaniyang ama na para bang sinasabi nitong kumalma ito. It was her mother's turn to talk, but with a smile. "So, Anthony... Hindi pa kasi pwedeng magkaroon ng boyfriend si Beverly hangga't hindi pa siya nakakapagtapos ng pag-aaral." Hindi naman nagbago ang ekspresyon sa mukha ni Pres. "So, anong mangyayari sa 'yo?"

Tonny still looked determined and serious. "Then I'll do my best to be patient. I would court her as long as it's okay with you po, and as long as she's comfortable with me."

Umingos naman ang ama niya. "Sus, narinig ko na 'yan," komento pa nito.

"With all due respect po, I don't know what the future holds, but what I know is that I like your daughter. And I know that during the time that I'll court her, I'll get to know her more. Courting is a risk, not a sure win. So as long as I can feel myself liking, and possibly, loving your daughter, I'll continue to be patient as I make my efforts to gain her affection and attention."

Ilang beses napakurap si Beverly dahil sa mga salitang binitawan ni Pres. W-Wait! Saan ba nagsimula 'to?? Na-wrong send lang naman ako ah!!

After a second or so, Tonny plastered a small smile on his face. "I honestly know that what I feel for Beverly is still not that strong enough compared to what others feel towards their future partner, but," he looked at her for a moment as he said his next words, "I want to make your daughter happy and make her feel special in my own way."

Pwede bang mag-hyperventilate? How about himatayin? Medyo nararamdaman ko na kasi ang pagkaubos ng oxygen sa katawan ko.

Nagkatinginan naman ang mga magulang si Beverly saka nagsalita ng ama niya. "Sige, papayagan ka namin manligaw." Agad na napatingin si Tonny pabalik sa mga magulang niya. "Kung papayag si Beverly."

Ilang beses napakurap ang babae. Am I hearing this right?? It depends on me?? Napahinga siya nang malalim para pakalmahin ang sarili. Tatlong pares ng mga mata ang nakatingin sa kaniya, nag-aabang ng desisyon niya. "O-Okay po. Pero... Pero katulad ng mga sinabi ni Mama..." Tiningnan niya nang seryoso si Pres kahit na gustong sumabog ng puso niya. "After I graduate... That's the only time na pwede ako magka... m-magka-partner." Pakiramdam ni Beverly ay pulang-pula siya pagkatapos sabihin iyon.

Pare-parehong napangiti ang tatlong taong nakatingin sa dalaga. She's already in senior high school, so if Pres would really like to court her and be patient, doon ni Bevie malalaman kung hahayaan na nga ba niya ang sarili. Because honestly, she doesn't think that she's emotionally and mentally prepared for that complicated thing called "romantic relationship".

It's better if she matures first — both of them. And also, mas may time silang mag-get to know each other bago silang mag-decide na dalawa kung itutuloy pa nga ba nila ang bagay na iyon.

And well, it's not a bad thing too. Having a manliligaw-nililigawan label is actually better than no label at all. So, it's a win-win decision.

Ngumiti sa kaniya si Pres. "Then... I'll start courting you and your family tomorrow morning. I'm already eating too much of your time. Thank you for listening to me and blessing me with your consent." With those words said, Tonny bid goodbye while Bevie and her parents watched him get inside the backseat of his car and get on the road.
