"Which is more dangerous, the dagger brandished by an enemy, or the hidden one pressed to your back by someone you never even see?"

This was the first time in years since Adira was able to sleep for longer than an hour. It wasn't the best compared to her old life, but still the better option compared to what she had to go through in the underground. So she was grateful for it, she did miss the sounds of the night and the cold breeze from the trees after all.

Waking up from her sleep with a cold sweat that surrounded her entire body, she made her way to the bathroom and drenched herself under the cold shower. It was Elena again, she woke up because of Elena's bloodied body on the ground. Her dream of enjoying planting tulips with Elena turned to a bloody nightmare that became the reason for her restless nights.

It's been years since Elena's death and every time, just when Adira thinks she's finally healed of the deepest scar her parents bore onto her, she is always reminded of it. A part of her blamed herself for being too weak to stand up against her father. Maybe Elena did too. Adira never knew, and the guilt always pulled her back from seeking for the life she always dreamt of having.

After her cold shower, she changed into her new attire. It was the scout regiment uniform and she hated every part of it. The pants were white, the jacket was cropped, there were no holsters for her knives and guns, and there was this brown, useless, short skirt. Could you even call it a skirt? It couldn't even cover the bottom part of her ass. The only part she did like from the uniform would be the green hood with the big emblem on the back.

Right now, she was doing something she always found comforting ever since she was a child. And that was to cover herself up with beautiful trinkets that she would buy from the shops with the money she earned. She enjoyed making herself pretty because she believed that if she felt and looked pretty, then her entire day would be as well.

Adira finished tying up her last braid and pinned it to her head when a knock interrupted her peace. "Adira, something urgent just happened and we're being called by captain Levi to head to where captain Hange is. We need to go down now." Petra said on the other side of the door.

Putting on the green cape, Adira left the room and followed after Petra.

The sight before them was amusing to Adira. She could hear Hange screaming from a mile away and by the time they had arrived, there she saw Hange on her knees grieving over the life of two titans they managed to capture that now evaporated.

She walked closer to Eren to inspect what just happened and find out how this happened. Apparently, someone killed the two titans late at night and they were suspecting it to be a soldier.

In the midst of Adira's thinking she was interrupted by Erwin suddenly speaking by her shoulder. "Who do you think the enemy is, Eren?" Baffling the confused teen. "Huh? What are you talking about?" Erwin then directed the question to Adira. "The enemy isn't always the ones outside the walls. Sometimes it's those who lurk in the shadow in silence who refuse to speak up about injustice. Be it titan or human. One doesn't have to hold a weapon to be deemed as the enemy."
