a deer bounding into traffic at night
your mother's face
when your father threatened to leaveants carrying a piece of cake
back to the nesta flashlight tapping against
the car windowa dog tugging on its chain
when it sees a rabbita man staring into the barrel of a gun
a girl in the backseat watching
her father stare into the barrel of a gun
