~Prologue~
0.3————
She woke up after three days. Someone must've did something or forced her to swallow something while she was asleep. Now, that she had just woken up in a place she didn't recognize, surrounded by mysterious beings with red eyes.
She rubbed her eyes, thinking that she must be dreaming. But when she opened them again, the figures were still there, and she was still in this strange place.
She was in the volturi's territory.
Named Aro, who seemed to be the leader, was watching her with an amused glint in his eye. Novaria couldn't shake the feeling that he knew more than he was letting on. She knew she had to be careful with her words, the easily anxious girl she is.
"Who are you? Where am I?" she asked, her voice betraying her fear. There's also two beings like him sitting on the thrones behind him.
"Calm little one. We are the oldest and most powerful vampire coven in existence." he explained, his tone laced with a hint of pride. "My dear, I am Aro, and these are, Caius and Marcus." he added, pointing to the other two gracefully.
She looked around again and also spotted a girl around her height. She was standing in the distance, observing them with curiosity.
"That is Jane, and beside her is her brother, Alec. They are two of our most prized members, with abilities that should not be underestimated." he said with a hint of warning in his tone.
Novaria couldn't believe her eyes. She was surrounded by the most powerful vampires, and she had no idea how she had ended up here.
Before Novaria could press for more answers, Aro's words were interrupted by a voice she thought she would never hear again. "Novaria." it said, causing her heart to skip a beat. She turned to see, Ivan, her friend and the boy she liked, kneeled next to a vampire named Demetri.
She froze in disbelief "Ivan? Wait - what, how?" she asked, shocked and confused at the same time.
"N-Nov.." he stuttered, his eyes brimming with sadness and guilt. Before he could say anything else, Aro spoke again.
"Jane and Alec saw you sleeping in a secluded spot in London, saw him helping and carried you. And it looks like you both ended up here." he finished with a devilish smile, trying to make it seem innocent.
"We won't waste any chances." Alec added with a blank chuckle.
"How tragic, how ironic."
Aro's eyes glinted with amusement as he started to circle around Novaria, a sly smirk playing on his lips. She could feel his intense gaze on her, making her feel even more vulnerable and trapped.
"And I heard you're Victoria's little sister. Am I right?" Aro asked, his tone dripping with condescension. "Too bad she's not like you anymore, breathing, warm, human." He purred and chuckled, as if it were the most amusing thing in the world.
Novaria clenched her fists, her heart pounding in her chest. She could feel the familiar sting of tears in her eyes as Aro's words triggered painful memories of her sister being bitten by James. "I...I know!" she stammered, her voice barely above a whisper. "I had no power to stop it when she was attacked."
