The Reunion of the Royals

I moved a pawn piece and looked at Kit who was contemplating his moves.

It had been two days since we left Jasper Island and it had been pretty relaxed on the ship.

Shadow's aunt was a much more experienced sailor then half the crew.
She knew tricks for boats that even I didn't understand.
Made sense though.
Shadow explained that her way of finding work was just hopping on ship after ship that needed crew.
She took on any job.
She was a jack of all trades, and master of a lot.

Now me and Kit were playing chess while Sonic watched.

He was sitting on a barstool to the side and had the master emerald in his hands.

The large jewel had constantly been reacting to his presence. It glowed brighter whenever he was near it.

We tested it out if it would react the same to other sirens, so I held it, Blaze held it, heck even Tangle held it. But nothing, it apparently only liked Sonic.

I had also take notes to Sonic's slow change. I think all the adventuring and pirating has started to...change him.
He had become more rough and didn't mind helping with tasks on deck. He didn't use being royalty as an excuse to get out of work as much anymore. I mean, he still complained sometimes and still likes being pampered and he still had his polite regal demeanor, but...he seemed somehow more happy, better than before...

I moved my rook, and Kit moved their queen.

"Wrong move Kit." I chuckled as I took a pawn piece and hit the queen with it.

Kit groaned and banged their head against the barrel.

Sonic laughed and rested an elbow against the barrel.

"Nice move, Kitsunami." He snorted.

"Don't underestimate the ability of a pawn. They can break through frontlines without you even noticing." I said as Kit grumpily moved one of their priests.

I moved a knight and just as Kit was about to do the same, footsteps could be heard thumping down the stairs.

Eclipse came down with a grin on his face.

"We're here!" He said.

Sonic and I both stood up and rushed out from under the deck, Kit struggling to catch up.

We got to the railing and looked out on the island we were coming close to.

It was heavily covered in plants and trees. It was almost all greenery except for the beaches with seashells and rocks.

"Mom? Mama?" Sonic called.

No answer except for his voice echoing.

"Come on we're going down." Shadow said, grabbing his hand and leading him towards one of the rowboats.

We got down to the island.
It was deathly silent.
It was clear, Blaze, Infinite, and Whisper were listening for anything since they had the best hearing.

"Come on we need to explore further." Sonic said.

He hugged the emerald to his chest, and moved forward. Shadow followed close behind him.

We moved into the trees pushing away thick branches and leaves.

Sonic and I both made sirens calls as we walked, trying to summon someone, anyone from our clan.

Sonic tired again and then-

A screech called back.

Everyone jumped at the noise and then we all jumped when a tall strong looking siren materialized from the growth.

He narrowed his eyes and looked down on me and Sonic.

Sonic straightened up and looked back at him seriously, speaking to him in siren.

"Are you a soldier for Queen Aleena?"

"Yes. Who are you and why do you have our sacred emerald?" Answered the soldier.

"I'm surprised my mothers haven't told everyone what I look like. I am Prince Sonic! Son of Aleena and child of the emerald sirens clan. I am brother to Prince Manic and Princess Sonia, and my half-brother, Tails." Sonic said in his authoritative tone.

The soldiers eyes widened and he immediately dropped to a knee in front of us.

"Forgive me, your highness! You went missing in the attack on the clan and the queens presumed you were dead after an ages long search! They shall be overjoyed by your arrival and the return of the emerald."

Sonic smile and nodded.

"As for the non-sirens with me, they are friends. They are no harm to us, they have been protecting me."

The siren nodded and motioned for us to follow him.

"So, what did he say?" Asked Shadow, placing a hand on my brother's shoulder.

"He's taking us to my mothers." Sonic said with a grin.

The soldier lead us through the bushes and then stopped at a stone pillar.

He tapped his stick against the pillar and the illusion faded away.
I could feel my heart beat faster as the city was revealed to us.

It looked like ancient buildings left behind by the Mayan culture, turned into our home.
Sirens moved about in land form, moving from place to place, and a great, tall pyramid made of white and red clay stood at the center of it all.

Tails gasped and grabbed my arm.

"Sonic, sonic can you believe this?" He laughed.

"Yeah...we're home." I said.

The soldier screeched and all the bustle stopped.

The people of our clan turned and looked at us.

Jaws dropped, smiles grew, and eyes widened.

He started to lead us down the street and sirens chirped and waved.
I could feel myself smile even more than ever.

Tails was also grinning, walking alongside me with his head held high.

I glanced at the others.
Everyone else was just admiring our surroundings, amazed by the clan's presence.

But then my attention was pulled when the royal trumpets played.
Our little party was lead near the pyramid.
I stood and looked up the tall steps.

The trumpet player stopped as soon as they stepped forward.

Two older sirens and a harpy. One of them was a lilac and magenta with a crown on her head, one of them was a light blue with blonde bangs, and the harpy was part owl with sharp yellow eyes.

They looked at us and I met the one in the crown's gaze.

Her eyes widened and she let out a sudden cry and immediately raced down the steps.

My heart leapt and I shoved the emerald into Tails's hands and ran up the steps to meet her.

"SONIC!"

"MAMA!"

She wrapped her arms tightly around me and I hugged her back just as tight.

She started crying and blubbering in siren and I just hugged her and buried my face into her soft quills and shoulder.

Mom and Longclaw also started running down the steps, saying all sorts of things, but I couldn't hear them. I was just too happy to see my family again.

Tails ran up with a shout of joy and he was pulled into the hug as well.

And I could hear the cheers and calls of celebration from the sirens of our clan.
