Collapsing spires and crumbling buildings

Both ancient and new deterioration

Ice cracks under your feet,

Melting the platform that holds your footing

Breaking down faster than you have time to react

You plummet down a waterfall

Time slows around you

And your eye catches the fiery sunset

But there's nothing to catch you,

From plummeting into the icy waters beneath you

The tense knot in your chest twists

As you're surrounded by dark waters

Alone with your thoughts

Stark goosebumps run over your skin

The knot in your chest seems to expand,

Then compress

Each beat of your heart like a metronome

The anxiety running its course written on sheet music

Part of you just wants to let yourself sink down

Become one with the depths and frigid waters

But another part of you,

Perhaps a part that still believes in hope

Wants to fight to reach the surface

Fight for life and freedom

Two sides at war

You seem to be at a standstill

Not even the current fights you,

This decision is yours to make

Amongst the indecision surrounding you

You know the answer you want

You want to live

The knot in your chest seems to lessen

Your muscles begin to move,

But so does the current

Fight the waters to live another day

Or be dragged under and forgotten
